CSGO became fun for the past several weeks.  I've played competitive only with friends in a lobby.  Today I got my first 7 day ban in a while for "failing to reconnect to the server" after I lagged out and couldn't get steam to go online again.

Dis game

Seems like the water pump inside my Corsair H110 has gone wonky... Should I replace it with another H110 or just use an air cooler?

*noctua*?

The problem I have with the Noctua NH-D15 is it cost exactly the same as the Corsair H110 here in NZ, which don't give it much incentive to buy over the H110.

The problem I have with the H110 is that it might go wonky again in another 2 years like the one I have now (CPU currently idles at 90c-95c at standard frequency).

btw, what do you guys think of the Zalman CNPS12X ?

That's really expensive for a meh performing cooler.

Get a Cryorig R1 Ultimate.

No shop is selling that cooler here in NZ.

I thought the Zalman ties with the Noctua NH-D14, and only losing to the D15 by a very slight margin?

Does it? Haven't seen any tests.

Considering it only matches the NH-C14 here...I'm not sure.

Edit: looks like it does

Just get whichever of the 3 (NH-D14/15 and the CNPS12X) is the least expensive. Although I generally have this sneaking suspicion that most people who buy these coolers really don't need it, especially with how Intel has been pushing efficiency a lot for the last few architectures. I think most people were able to get some really high OCs off just a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO/+ on Sandy Bridge chips.

The Corsair H110 is not enough to cool a 4.8GHz 4670k under heavy load, but then again I rarely go beyond 4.6GHz (my daily frequency setting is 4.5GHz).

The Noctua NH-D14 is the cheapest here ($160 NZD), followed by the Zalman CNPS12X ($170 NZD) and the NH-D15 & Corsair H110 ($200 NZD). Though I am quite apprehensive of the Corsair H110's lifespan if I get one again considering the one I'm currently using goes wonky in 20 months while an air cooler can be virtually eternal.

If you search up Hyper 212 EVO i5-4670K overclock you find a lot of people who have been holding a nice 4.3-4.5GHz OC with a Hyper 212 EVO.

Go with the NH-D14 then.

I looked it up, and I may have a quite decent i5-4670k in my possession here it would seem. Quite a lot of people are running above 1.22v for 4.4GHz, while I can run mine with 1.21v for 4.5GHz, and about 1.26v for 4.6GHz. Not sure if cooling advantage plays a role though.

Have you looked at NZXT's stuff?

Won't fit on my case.

Besides, turns out warranty still covers my H110 - so I don't have to buy a new cooler after all.

I've had a Corsair H100 running daily for three years ... no problems.  Personally, I'll never go back to the Apartment Building Sized(tm) air coolers ...
