You mean, what it smells like

Both actually, I've witnessed some very OLD pc's literally frying Ram Modules... but these where like 97' 98' machines... the new ram Modules must look a little different, maybe smell different too!

About to buy the Motorola 6142 Cable Modem. Every single site I've been to names it the best one.

It sounds good as well

Holy crap really!

I just got one of those from my ISP for... FREE... seriously. Our old on crapped out so we got a new one and LOW and behold that's what it is :O cool beans!

  6142? I thought it was 6141?

Yeah, I keep screwing up the last number

6141 is it. Yep. Got the white one

Not sure how much of an improvement if any this will get. I have very good ping across all my devices with constant 50Mb/s down on any device that supports going that fast innately.

But after reading more on DOCIS 3 and the 6141, I guess it will help during congestions and all that.

Doesn't matter really, I don't live here that often anymore :/

I think I have the 6121? I bought it a few years ago when my net kept stalling at ~25mbit. Upgraded modem and an AC router and I get the 63mbit I was supposed to be getting haha.

My surfboard (pretty schitty in comparison) has no problem giving me my speeds. There isn't much congestion on the line comming to my neighborhood then probably :)

Maybe you have all the oldies living there checking thier AOL email still?
wink.gif

AOL was pretty cool, so many free trials in the mail that were redeemed hehe

No good of course, the only reason I needed internet in 2003 was to get winamp..  Dialup was so unreliable, could not even get 7.8MB install
