It was liquid nitrogen, not helium:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKN4VMOenNM

A CPU has no moving parts and is entirely enclosed, unlike a harddrive.  They're also made out of ceramics, silicone, and metals that are far more temperature resistant than a harddrive with a fragile disk.  AMD is also only doing this as a one time demonstration sort of thing.  If you do something like this regularly you'd probably end up breaking the CPU due to stress fractures.  Not that it would be practical at all, since AMD was literally just dumping the nitrogen on the CPU and there was no sort of sustainable loop or anything like that.
They said, "When we switch over to helium..."

Shouldn't future CPUs be more efficient?  God help us all, picture idiots trying to cool their smartphones with liquid nitrogen.
LOL!

ahh I look forward to that... maybe with Frozen fingers they will finally learn to SPEAK TO ANOTHER HUMANS WITH THIER VOCAL CORDS, i freaking swear nothing is more UN SEXY than a women glued to her cell phone,

Speaking of which, I'm getting excited about a new start in a Pc Networking Major :D, that being said has any one heard anything about a... 3D No Touch mouse Tech? Like the Kinect concept, but your hands are the mouse

Would it work with a sensor on the finger, or through methods like infrared/kinect type sensor?

Would be cool for 3D modelling.  Is this what Networking Majors take?  I was thinking more on the lines of well.. Network configuration, Web, SQL, etc

Oh yea your on the money with what Networking Majors take, but I think that tech is with infrared. And I'm interested in it because I do a little graphic design on the side, and how I have LONGED to get my fingers into CS5 like I can take a pencil to paper >.>
