OPPO To Reveal PM-3 Planar Magnetic Headphones and HA-2 Portable Headphone Amplifier at RMAF

the Oppo audio company being discussed here is completely different to the Chinese Oppo cell phone manufacturer :)

As others have mentioned, a user-replaceable battery would be excellent. Given that Oppo already makes very nice cell phones with this feature, it should be possible. I don't really care for the leather covering partly because it would prevent this feature, and it might end up looking pretty crappy if the leather suffered any damage.

Seems like Oppo Digital USA is a regional division that specializes in audio products. They use the same brand name and logo as Oppo Electronics that does indeed make cell phones. I think it is reasonable to assume that they are part of the same company though Oppo Digital will not be able to help you with your Oppo cell phone. lol

When is the PM-3 expected to be released (roughly)?

I was set on getting the SRH1540 for portable use, then they release the MDR-Z7 and MDR-1A, now with the announcement of PM-3 I'm not sure anymore.

The world needs more top-notch closed headphones. Love the looks and feel of the PM-1, here's hoping the PM-3 has a nore neutral and treble-extended sound. Kudos to Oppo for jumping into the closed ortho fray!

I listened to the three prototype pm-3s And compared them to each other at Can Jam using my 5.5 generation Ipod .Which is a RWA IMOD but used the regular headphone out on it.1 of the pm3s sounded closed in similar to the pm1s & 2s,
The other 2 where closer in sound to each other one having a hair more bass  in sound but not as wide a headstage. The later 2 pm3s sound more open & extended then ethier the pm1 or 2s
they actually sound like a open can. I also tried the pm1s & 2s  using the same tracks & Ipod.
In my humble opinion  I preffered the 3s to the 1s or 2s  and hope oppo  gets the final production unit  to sound like the  one that had the wider headstage  Treble extension was excellant.
I gave the oppo reps my feedback that they where looking for since they are  prototypes.
I  will be buying one when they are released.

Sorry, I didn't have a chance to read the entire thread, has Oppo hinted to the price point for the PM-3? If they can come in or around (preferably under) the 500 USD mark it would be greatly appreciated.

All I can say is under $699. The cheaper, the better for all of us.

Sorry if I missed your earlier posts, but at this time I can't confirm anything about the pricing for the HA-2. I will say it will be incredibly reasonable for the type of build and audio quality that you will be getting from the HA-2. If it helps, it will be more than a hundred, but less than five hundred.

As for the release, I will say that the bulk of any consumer electronics sales happens between November and February, so take that what you will.
