Oppo PM-3 : The Portable Planar - Impressions

Hi! I have a Khadas T2Pro with both 3.5 and 4.4 mm outputs. I want to try my PM-3 with 4.4 mm. I can just buy a 4.4 male to 3.5 female on AliE and attach the original 3.5 mm to it?
NEVER go from single ended to balanced!!!! It will fry your amp, for sure. To try PM-3 balanced, you need a balanced cable terminated in 2.5mm or 4.4mm male plug. You can then use a 4.4mm female to 3.5mm male to use with regular audio devices.

I think you misunderstood. I got both 4.4 mm and 3.5 mm inputs on the Khadas T2Pro. So if i plug in a 4.4 cable with a female 3.5mm in the end to connect my Oppo PM-3 with 3.5 mm cable? Shouldn't that be exactly the same as the people who pay quite much for the 2,5mm to 3.5mm cables for Oppo PM-3?

You can use a cable that’s 4.4mm TRRRS on one end and 3.5mm TRRS on the other.
You CANNOT use a cable that is 4.4mm TRRRS to 3.5mm TRS. This will create a short within the Khadas.

Edit to add: the PM-3 is wired internally to work with either TRS or TRRS.

If you use the balanced out TRRS you must use a 3.5 TRRS balanced plug at the headphone socket. Else you may short circuit the amp output. Here is my example with a 2.5 TRRS balanced plug.

Here is a 4.4 cable on ebay:

So what i need to make it work with the Khadas is 4.4 trrrs male and 3.5 trrs cable? So to make it work i have to use a 3.5 mm trrs into PM-3?

Keep it simple. A 3.5mm TRRS from the headphones will give you balanced signal at the other end, in your case 4.4mm. A 3.5mm TRS from the headphone will only be good for single entry signal. Using such a cable will blow up your DAC if plugged in the balanced port.

That is a very nice feature of the PM-3. I have a cable with one end TRRS and the other end XLR, so I can benefit from the balanced output of my Jotunheim.

Still enjoying my PM-3. Bought new when it was released and I just changed the earpads with sheepskin leather earpads which is better than the original pads.

I replaced the ear pads too. But now the head band has started to (seriously) deteriorate (leaving some black dandruff after listening). So I may want to replace that too. But it looks like a much more difficult thing to replace than the pads.

Yea for the headband, I will just peel off all the black stuff away and use a zippered cover over it. I have already bought mine (cover) eventho my headband still pretty intact.

Rub all that black stuff off with care and you're left with a nice gray headband. Buy a zippered headband cover to protect it and you're set. Not an easy task replacing it, not worth the trouble if you ask me.
Will look into that.
