Oppo PM-1 Planar Magnetic Headphone Impressions Thread
Apr 12, 2014 at 12:22 AM Post #482 of 3,729
I almost placed an order but decided to hold for a couple of weeks.  I want to hear what the sound palette is like - while i do own the HD800 and quite enjoy it, I dont want another headphone with a similar sound palette.  I'd prefer something closer to the LCD2/3 sound.

So am going to wait for some reviews and impressions.   Esp as I am going to have those headphones forwarded to me to the other side of the world.

Is that $ or £'s ? I've just seen them priced at £1.099 on Oppo U.K. seller. Sadly, there's no way I can spend that kind of money on headphones, even if I had it !

That was quoted to me in $ from their US website. Why are the UK always equate $ in pounds, I thought your distributors had an exchange rate calculator. :D

Wait for the PM-2 it's 699$ US which if I am using your weird UK distributor exchange rate calculator will be 699 Pounds.

Yes, I can't figure that one out myself !! US cost $1.099....U.K. cost £1.099 ( Surely U.K. cost should equate to something like, £600 - £700 ! ?? )

( Time to send Oppo U.K. dealer e mail, for an explanation !! ? )

I sympathized with you cause you could order it from a US relative and get a better price for it, granted they want a mark up but that's insane.

Even that, doesn't justify the huge price difference ! I've just sent a Oppo U.K. dealer e mail, asking if it's possible to give an explanation for the difference in price.....I suspect if they give any, it will be for the reasons you suggest ?

Yeah I think it should be 1099€. So 899£. Certainly not more.

Bloody knew we'd get shafted over here AGAIN! Drives me crazy. Oh well, parents are going over the pond in June, so it looks like they will be bringing back yet more headphones!

It is so frustrating. Surely they know that we can see the US prices. Why would us UK residents be crazy enough to pay the same in pounds as it is in dollars? Mental.
