to me i simply like the pm1 and i do not care bout measurements, what i care bout is what my ears hear. Other than that nothing does influence me to like or dislike a gear

I'm glad this thread is back alive! I love my PM-1 from the very 1st day I bought them.I also use the original pads that came with the PM-1. They sound amazing with my Astell & Kern AK380 + AK380 AMP & Silver Dragon V3 Cable from Moon-Audio. Can't get enough of the SQ from my combo set!

More people seem to be preferring the PM-2 with different pads than the PM-1.

Hmmm, you think so?

How come? Any source?

I prefer the PM-2 with PM-1 pads for one reason: cheaper. Sound quality is the same (with the same pads) as my friends PM-1 - but I can totally see why people might visually and haptically like the PM-1 more, it's beautiful.

What's that head-fi title thing with the many aliases?

Cheers.

Could someone compare PM 1 vs HE -500 soundwise , since i see in the graphics a lot of similarities in bass and midrange ?

Hi,

I've seen a lot of users posting these kind of graphic comparisons.
Which website are they taken from?

Thank you,

still deciding between this one and elear

Tough choice. I have both, only because I got the PM-1s a few years ago and recently got the Elears. The Elears are more dynamic, but makes me realize how smooth the PM-1s are as it's a planar magnetic design. One big difference is the PM-1s are portable, so if you're on the road a bit you'll get more use out of it.
