Anyone downloaded the new firmware yet? Someone said the sound got worse after the update. Personally, I didn't notice any significant changes.

Sorry dude, got my Onkyo DP-X1 on Wed and did an OTA update there and then.

No idea if there was a sonic difference between post and prior firmware updates...

Same here, placebo effect perhaps? I'm one of the first to download it.

I believe firmware might be able to change sound but considering Onkyo's kinda stable overall performance, I just can't see them messing around with software implementation or EQ. On the other hand, devices like Fiio X7 or iBasso DX80 were proven to have really hit or miss firmware because of how they develop the products themselves.

Tidal sounds very good to me through the Onkyo. I'll test more and see. So was it being suggested that even the Onkyo stock application fails to use the appropriate API? I find that extremely hard to believe meaning that if they aren't doing so, there is perhaps a reason for this? I don't know as when it comes to things of this nature my knowledge is non-existent. I'll have to hope those who enjoy such things as app hacks can educate us further.

Playing Tidal now, sounds awesome, no hiss, no distortion and I only pay for 320 streaming. So one more vote for Tidal integration being perfect, so far anyway.

The info came from someone who believes that microSD card changes the sound. Take that as you will.

Hi guys, before I went to sleep last night I thought to post CPU-Z specs and 3DMark benchmarks here for your enjoyment.

Should mention that the Onkyo DP-X1 is also known as O&P Innovations, the same people behind my DPA-GL033 tempered glass screen protector (all part of the Deff Corporation)...how strange...

Onkyo DP-X1 (O&P Innovations) scored 1263 in the 3DMark Sling Shot using ES 3.0 Android benchmark test:

I like it, but does anybody else find the Onkyo to have very strong bass?
