By theory ACG should sound better. But it sounds not so loud as balanced - due that part of amps serving to amplify ground wire.
ACG gives more space. But ... something it is wrong with Onkyo settings on ACG - it sounds artificial and dissipated for my ears.

interesting you say this as I too found the ACG to lack a bit of punch compared to balanced. Listening at home in isolation ACG might sound better, but if walking around outside I always choose balanced

mmm.....I guess you guys are using Balanced, instead of ACG, for headphones? For iems/ciems, the volume output off ACG-mode is plently loud and I'd like to think that my normal listening volume tends to be greater than normal for others (or so I've been told).

I tried both. For me that not volume issue - sound- wise. ACG in theory - 180 degrees reverted signal through ground wire. It would be supposed just make greater control for diaphragm of speaker. For my ears - something wrong with phase (all amplification in X1 goes by software only) - in this way ACG mode sounds dissipated, instruments and frequencies "lost in space". For IEM's - maybe it gives extra space, but looses focus.

I asked this question on the Tidal thread 3 days ago and no answer so I'll ask it here. I recently downloaded the new update from Tidal on my DP-X1 and now it repeats the 1st second of every song unless you skip to the next song. Also it seems to be doing a lot more of that "skipping/pause" which it hardly did on the last rev.

I use balanced mode with IEMs for the exact opposite reason:  ACG sounds too focused and balanced gives me more space. Interesting and confusing isn't it? For me too.

It's not about volume for me either as both balanced and ACG can drive my IEMs to perfect fine volumes even using low gain. I tried really hard to like ACG, as a lot of people seem to prefer it, and even Onkyo makes it a selling point. Periodically, I would go back and try it again, but every time I would return to balanced.

I never got the greater space that ACG was supposed to deliver. Everything, to me, sounds more focused and thereby slightly contracts the sense of space. To my ears, balanced is the mode that sounds slightly less precise and more diffuse. However, I also like that it sounds subtly more expansive and enveloping.

I always get amazed how we hear and process differently. If you've never really tried out balanced for yourself, you should give it a shake.

I was looking for a case and stumbled upon this one. First glass screen protector that I have seen available. Looks like it comes as a 2 pack, as if they know I tend to screw these up, LOL

that because they are not released yet, but soon. Samsung and SanDisk already announced that they would be available in Q3

If i will be getting the dpx1 now and assuming the supplier now has new stocks, is it safe to say that the earphone jack issues might be gone? Is it really a problem with the first batch only? Really itching to get this one but since its quite pricey for my wallet i'm having second thoughts bec of the earphone jack issue... Thanks guys :)
