My 2 cent,

I have installed 7 music players, tidal and 3 more streaming app, web radio.

I have turn notification off in every app including chrome and play store.

Battery drain is not a problem after these steps.

If one app is still enabled notification it will drain the battery when idle and in listen.

mmm.....flawless playback on my newish Onkyo using the stock music app and tidal.com (offline mode).

My only wish is to get a similar UI as the sony/AK dap on onkyo. Onkyo stock DAP isnt music friendly, it lacks the flow that my sony DAP has. But boy is the usb out and other freature of dpx1 well implement or what!

I have tried the factory reset twice.  It did not solve my issue with WI-FI or the battery life problem.

I know DP-X1 is not a phone and I actually never use most apps on my real phone.  I don't need all those apps included in the DP-X1 either.  Asking for a more user friendly  interface is not too much I think.  Still, I can live with the wi-fi problem and the poor UI if the battery life problem wasn't so bad.

When I called Onkyo USA, the people I talked with were Customer Support reps, all three of them, not a desk person at the reception.  That is why I could not believe their total lack of knowledge about the DP-X1.  I believe the DAP has been in the market for a few months already.  Apparently their product training leaves a lot to be desired.  Hopefully someone tries to improve that at Onkyo. Thanks for the suggestion to contact the Onkyo parent company.  I might have to do that.

WOW!

DP-X1 + Oppo PM-3 on the balanced output (ACG) is amazing to say the least! Well worth every penny.

I am starting to like the Poweramp alpha music player too.

Now waiting for the my Dignis case and looking at a Hifiman HE-400i!

That was my combination exactly (although I just used the stock player). Great synergy I thought.

I own the Oppo PM-3 headphones as well but the cable that came with it is not a balanced cable.  What kind of cable are you using to connect it to the balanced output of the DP-x1?  Thanks for your help.

Balanced cable :-)

Seriously, it's a DIY silver plated cable. You can order them assembled in many sources in the net.

I have frankly been thrilled with the DP-x1 simply using the line out and listening to hi-res tracks in my car stereo, I find it to be far superior to my Note 4, or any digital player (archos) that I've used in the past - I can finally up the treble on my equalizers w/o hearing an unpleasant edginess..  However, I have read around 1/2 of this thread and am curious about what can be done with the balanced output.  I have never had much interest in headphones, and I realize that is the point of a small portable player - no one seems to mention larger speakers at all.  I have a pair of M Audio BX8a powered studio monitors that have xlr inputs, and was wondering if I can purchase a balanced cable to hook up the Onkyo to them, or is that just some sort of non-starter?  I have only used a Hosa 1/8 to 1/4 inch TRS cable with them before from my PC, I have never heard a "balanced" sound, and am curious about whether I could attempt to find a balanced cable to use with them?  I have no interest in recording etc., so I probably should have never purchased the studio monitors in the first place, I was just wondering if I finally might have a good use for these speakers.

Hi!  Is the Onlyo DP-X1 compatible with m3u8 and not just m3u playlists?  Does it support ApeV2(ID3V1, ID3V2, ApeV2) tagging format of music?  I have a Fiio X5 1st generation currently and was told by Fiio to put my music in this format.  I really do not want to have to change the tagging format all over again for another player.  Do I have to use X Dap software to transfer music from my computer to my DP-X1 and to my micro sd cards if they are in the player?
