If you are in North America I have confirmed with Gibson Innovations that the full new line of Onkyo headphones will be available through Amazon.com and .ca starting in June. The headphones are already available in Europe so the person likely is in the EU or Japan.

PC dac is not a practical thing for dap to do.

 

Not sure why you say that. There are quite a few that do it and do it well. My iBasso DX90 for one does so flawlessly. So while I am interested in upgrading to DP-X1 for balanced output and overall sound quality improvement, don't want to give up functionality I use often.

Because if you are enjoying your DP-X1 SE you are in for a treat if you ever go down the path of Balanced/ACG 

Sad, but not yet. Day and night, I have read posts, moving to balanced from SE but I am reluctant to mod my DUNUs or beyerdynamic DT 1770 into balanced. Just hoping to get an A12 or Zeus one day with balanced termination. Inshallah.

Since I don't have enough budget for a player and balance cable now, I am considering to buy the 100R instead of the dpx1. Or buying dpx1 and wait for the balance cable?

I have ordered a DP-x1 from PriceJapan and it will be shipped tomorrow. However the case is back ordered and won't be shipped for another month. I've looked at the Dignis case and was wondering what the experience has been regarding shipping from Dignis.

Thanks. Ordered today so hopefully DP-X1 and case arrive around the same time. I live in Mexico and am traveling to Vancouver Canada for a month and have lots of new stuff coming to my sons place to try including some 64 audio U12s, the Onkyo and cables etc. looking forward to the new gear.

Yes they are the same. You may even use dp-x1 default player Music.

ya I think it's the same output, since in SE both dpx1 or xdp100r just used 1 dac 1 amp.
but when you use balance output in dpx1, it will blow your mind. go for dpx1!

By the better, I meant DP-X1 over XDP. Then buy the accessory, balanced cable, whenever he could. Then repeat - buy the better things, one at a time.
