... These made-in-china daps may lack some "man-machine connectivity"but the sound is of no doubt.Try if you have a chance.

The DP-X1 is also made in China. Do you mean DAPs that are designed in China?

Well,Dp-X1 is a huge step from zx2 that's for sure.
I would have said so before I have tried  Luxury&Precision 's LP5,Cayin 's N6,or iBasso's DX100,which are at both price but a even greater step from their Korean/Japanese rivals if you are not so tied with operation or a smart system. These made-in-china daps may lack some "man-machine connectivity"but the sound is of no doubt.Try if you have a chance.

DX100? what a joke, it was a step backward from ZX2....

I think what he means here is all of the daps that are not designed in china especially Korean and Japanese are suck while all the other daps that are made by chinese companies are better. He forgot to mention Hifiman btw

Perhaps we have different standards over the sound quality...

not just standard, the resolution, everything on dx100 is on lower league compared to ZX2 not to even say about DP-X1. ZX2 was huge step forward from DX100
I have over 800 hours of usage on that Ibasso. Please check your headphone

Sigh, I guess it is unrealistic to expect that audio is free of politics. Hopefully that isn't the case that DP-X1 supporters were banned simply for discussing their preferences. Were they perhaps banned for how they went about expressing their views? Not to mention, even on head-fi there is control over what we say and where, so sadly no community is perfect. Although in all fairness to head-fi policy, we don't get banned for simple infractions, and there is some pretty valid reasons why we aren't supposed to discuss blind listening tests outside of the sound science forum.

@LoryWiv now that is the one big question mark. Onkyo got its own dedicated DAC/AMP product both portable and desktop class, if they do include support for USB DAC then will it cannibalize their other products?

Perhaps, but their competitors such as Fiio and iBasso both make standalone Amp. / DAC's as well as DAC enabled DAP's...the business objective would be to expand Onkyo's portable audio market share, not cannibalize it....

Mojo has very smooth tonal body, very musical but lacking stage and articulation compared to Onkyo

As much as I try, I cannot feel the same with my experience of the Onkyo. In SE mode I prefer my Mojo
I have tried in Balanced and AGC Mode and although better, IMO, not engaging enough, not as detailed a soundstage when I compare the two to my ears
In truth the only balanced headphones I have are my SE535. I do have a set on ACS Encore Studio Custom IEMs which will have cables that can be changed. as I will need to hear music on both devices with the same IEM's to really draw a conclusion.

Long story short the device I use most and enjoy always, Mojo but all could change.

I've had the DP-X1 a couple of weeks now and have had time to compare to my Mojo/Moto set-up.  As good as I think the Onkyo is, to me it isn't as good as the Mojo.  The Mojo is more detailed, gives more depth to the sound and overall is just an all round better sound.  This is in both SE and balanced mode.

That's not to say it's a bad DAP though, I use it alot and it's better than other DAP's I've owned in the past including the DX100, DX90, Sony ZX1, AK 100mkii and more recently the Fiio X7.
The Fiio X7 just doesnt sound as good as the DP-X1, not as musical or detailed, almost sounds a bit veiled in comparison.

I said earlier in the thread that the Onkyo seems to get better the more I use it, I love it, an outstanding DAP.

Was using today with the Fischer Amps FA4 and the match was excellent, really squeezed a bit more life out of my Fischer's which I didn't think was possible.

Hi.. My dp x1 seems to have some distortion on the left side. It sounded as if the drivers of my iems are damaged. I tried with my fiio x5ii and my iems seems okay. Hardware issues? Anyway to fix this issue? I'm using balanced cables for my shure se846 btw.

Currently on default settings, had a little play around but happy on default although may try for longer with the other settings soon.
