Who will be ressponsible for future Software updates (Shanling/Onix)?
This is very important regarding Roon compatibility.
I would not be happy if my Roon enviroment would not be supported because of too old Android version.
Actually the full support is guaranteed since Android 11.
Shanling is in charge of the Software.

Hi,
Is that good news ?

Let's see the glass half full and not half empty : maybe the partnership with Onix will give more resources and thus allow to have better software development that will benefit the whole line of Shanling/Onix products :-)

Regards.

Good point. R&D department could get a boost wit a new partner in software development. 🤞

Hi,

Yes, especially when you're selling devices for that price point, you have to deliver the highest quality in both hardware and software to make the whole experience a real pleasure. So some benefits may affect Eddict. Eddict is quite nice, but I think it is missing some features. Some of them should be trivial to implement, others probably a little more tricky.

But let's wait, see and... hope :)

Any news on the interesting Mystic XP1? It is listed on Onix web site but doesn't seem like someone bought it yet?

Picked this up yesterday for a demo courtesy of @Uncle Wilson of Jaben SG. So I thought I would share the unboxing photos first of all. I shall take the Onix Miracle out for a spin for the next few weeks.

For some context, I do have some familiarity with the Shanling family of products from the DAPS (M8, M9 and M9+) as well as their desktop stuff like the M30 and the ET-3. I have also played with others desktop components as well. I am also familiar with Eddict Player.

Hi,
I'm sure it will sound good.
Does it allow to apply some EQ ?
I have the Sony headphone like yours and I know for sure it produces a lot of bass and needs some EQ to sound marvelously...
Let's wait for your report.
But even do, the asked price is far beyond my reach 😂🥺

With the initial listen, as is, the Z1R does not sound as dark as it does normally, and is more nuanced and transparent. It is a bit like Stax SR007 out of a KGSSHV Carbon. :)

Too bad it is out of your reach. But there is an EQ option even if I never use EQ. There is even a gapless option. :)

It is a nice touch that I can use Airplay to stream from my iPhone and it gets upsampled.

Couple of questions @Shanling :

Any plans to implement wireless projection on Eddict Player for the Miracle?

Perhaps you should consider updating the user manual because it does not actually touch upon on how the change the default output mode from pre-amp to HP out. Because, if not, a first time user would be puzzled why after plugging all as instructed by the user manual, there is no output from the HP outputs. It was only that I accidentally swiped the small screen that I realised there was a pull down menu even in this small screen (which is more intuitive on the M30 which has a larger screen). Pls do consider this as the user manual seems to suggest it is plug and play for HPs, when there are additional steps.

Thanks!

Miracle is running open Android, so you can install one of many remote control apps Android, no need to deal with our Wireless Projection. Then you should be able to control it from other phones, tablets or even computers.

For the output switch, I know. It's issue on several of our products where it was added by software team. We send this feedback to project manager in regard to updating manual.

Thanks @Shanling for taking onboard the second point: yes, it was puzzling for me and it was purely by accident that I stumbled upon using the same swipe protocol as on the M30. That would be most helpful for other users. :)

Ah OK. I am primarily an iOS person. Would you have any suggestion for such Android apps? If not, I will do some research.

By the way, the power output is well implemented. No hiss even on even to drive HPs. Good sign. :) I will try the earphone output later on. Plenty to explore. ;)

Thanks!

For our models I tested AirDroid (Combination of AirDroid and AirMirror App), it works for Android through their app, but I think there is some limitation due to iOS limits., seems that one needs to run through browser on iOS?

Thanks @Shanling . I have tried a few. Screen casting is not an issue. However, they seem to require subscriptions to actually remotely control the screen on the android device. Which I am not going to bother with since I am only demoing the Miracle at this stage. But it does go towards the point that perhaps you really should have wireless projection implemented since the Eddict Player is free and customised for your devices anyway. Unless there are some technical limitations that a lay person like myself may not be aware of. :)

Hi,

This answer is somewhat puzzling to me :frowning2:
Time ago, when I had the EA5/EM5, I was surprised to see that it was totally impossible to install third-party apps.
When asked why that limitation, your answer was :
- 1°) Installation of third-party apps may alter sound ;
- 2°) Installation of third party apps may reduce stability of the system.

As I can not imagine that the ONIX Miracle is less sound focused than the EA5/EM5 and that it is more difficult to reduce stability I consider that there should be hope for Shanling to finally open Android on the EA5/EM5... I'll immediatly buy a new one if that is the case...

Anyways, I consider this a good move from Shanling/ONIX.

I also own the Fiio R7 which has Android with Play Store.
It works like a charm.
It also adds system wide EQ...
But sounds less good than Shanling devices.
Food for thought :)

Regards.
