Single DD (TOTL earbuds) sound good to my ears, so hopefully IEMs sound good too.Now an observation. This dongle sounds best (to me) with all BA sets. Both the Moondrop S8 and Shure 846SE sound better with this dongle compared to the 2 hybrids I listened with. The Moondrop Variations and Truth Ear Nova sounded flat and recessed. Stage on all wasn't the widest or deepest, but the overall presentation acceptable. I will head to all DD next with CF Vega 2020, KBear Believe and Penon Serial
Are you able to hear any hiss with sensitive iems?2 more cables that work with the iPhone 14pro
Meenova - C to lightning
ddHiFi Nyx - C to Lightning
With the Nyx cable yes, faint but present. Others noAre you able to hear any hiss with sensitive iems?
Which Apple cable are you using, my OE usbc to lightning cable that came with the phone doesn't work.Alpha in today. 3.5mm Non oversampling. low gain Windows 11 w/ Onix ASIO driver
Listening to Sierra Ferrell
Truth Ear Nova - No life in the music, recessed vocals
TangZu Wu Heyday Edition - Music comes alive, vocals forward
Going to guess that the synergy is important with this dongle
As always with first impressions YMMV greatly, so this is not a recommendation
Quick update - iPhone 14 Pro w/ OE Audio USB C to Lightning OTG works. Apple Music and Qobuz play bit perfect
Sony A306 (Japanese ver.) w/ ddhifi c to c otg Sony music player bit perfect although DSD stutters occasionally
Adding iPad Mini 6 to the list of working devices Same ddhifi cable as Sony
Which one sounds better with the Onix ? The Eddict player or the Uapp ?I believe mine got a firmware update yesterday. Suddenly it identified in UAPP as firmware updater by Company this or that. I don't remember I thought it was some freak notification, but after that the gain in uapp was much higher. I had to increase to 80 for decent sound level before and now it was good at 45. It also sounded more musical and dynamic. In Eddict player it now says it is on firmware 1.00.03
Edit: Yup it was updated. Now it connects to my LG G6, where it would not before. Probably the Eddict player app is used for updating firmware. Can @Shanling confirm that?

By the way, I downloaded the Eddict player a few minutes ago. As soon as I plugged the Onix into it, it immediately displayed this version number. I don't think the firmware update would have happened in 1 second. The sound didn't change either. The bass is as soft and weightless as so farI believe mine got a firmware update yesterday. 100% agree that the Alpha is a synergy specific dongleThe more I listen to this dongle the more I am convinced that it's all about synergy. Surprisingly, I've had amazing results with an affordable IEM: Simgot Supermix 4 combined with a Cema cable (with 65% pure silver and 35% OCC). Everything is very good with this setup: good punchy bass, very airy highs with excellent instruments separations and very good soundstage. The sound is simply very pure and never harsh. I highly recommend this setup. I am sure you will be amazed
