Personally, with good headphones, there's very little to no need for the EQ. But sure, let's get both the search and the EQ fixed for the next release.

 
Oh definitely - I have a lot of earphones I never EQ. But there are others which are almost perfect to my tastes, and just need the odd little tweak.  That's one of the advantages of all Fiio's DAPs.

It works well for me. If you don't use the EQ or USB OTG you should be fine.

Actually, (IMHO) what needs to be fixed first is for the track search to search by the title tag instead of the filename. Searching by filename is useless.

As I mentioned previously, track title should be what is listed under Category>All Songs. Then we could search off that. I PM'd that to Joe about a week ago. Haven't heard back yet, but hope they implement it.

The problem is that the search starts with the first character of the filename and goes from there. So if you have your tracks named "# - title", you have to know the track number of the track you are looking for. It would be best if search worked such that I could hit a letter and eery track that has that letter shows up. Then the next letter would find tracks that had those two letters in that order and so forth. That would work.

Correct, no EQ. Seems to be unintentional as it is not in the change log.

Most of the time I am a fanboy of FIIO beta firmware. But not this one

From memory (via Facebook), I believe Fiio are on holidays at the moment, wont be back till mid month, so i aint expecting any new betas till then.

Can't blame them. Their customer service and community interaction is brilliant all year round otherwise. They deserve a break.

While this may be one of my least favorite public betas I n a while, I too appreciate their efforts. Who would have expected the final firmware for the original X3 to have an amazing sound and be quite stable?

The X3II is already very strong and some planned new features look good. I just hope they put back OTG and make DAC usable in the next official release. Those are fine now in the latest official release but both missed the mark in the beta

USB DAC functionality still doesn't work on my laptop (Lenonvo Z510, Ubuntu 15.04). When I connect the player to my laptop all devices in settings disappear, and I should restart my computer in order to bring them back.

I think the USB DAC function is not working in this beta.  I had a similar experience
 
I also am not really happy about the disabled OTG.  I went back to the 1.4 release without really testing the beta.   Simply too many missing features.

The USB DAC function of 1.44 beta is indeed working. I am using as I type this.
