What do you think about the sound difference when listening? I'm likely going to remove the stickers but I use these primarily for gaming and want to make sure I'm making the right choice.
Haven't done it yet, waiting a measuring gear to arrive.

I did a Harman-esqe EQ in the meantime. I am not the most experienced EQ'er but I like the result.

Experts feel free to poop on and improve. :L3000:

I want to do the sticker mod too. But I'm afraid that after a few months I will not like it.

Same. I think the overall consensus seems to be that the headphones are better without the stickers. I'll probably do it over the next week.
I've tried HD800S at CanJam last weekend and I have to say that I liked it more than my HD8xx. It was more open and mids were more natural.

So if you use Crinacles website and use the auto EQ to match the HD8XX to Harman. Then export/Import to Peace Its sort of close to my eyeballed EQ.

I have seen the sticker mod graph attached, not sure if the end result is a close to Harman tuned HD8XX without the need to EQ.

I'll have to graph and compare after I receive my iec711 and jerry rig a measurement device together.

Attached the automated Harman tuning from Crinacle.com for HD8xx. It responds rather well to EQ.

I think some pads might actually be the cherry on the tuning cake. I ordered 3 sets lambskin, fenestrated and an interesting looking hybrid.

3 pads for $40-ish isn't half bad. Might not be Dekoni or ZMF quality, but should be better than stock for comfort.

I got the ZMF lambskin pads add performed the all stickers off mod, and I can indeed say that pads are the icing on the cake. Loved the 8XX with the sticker mod as I mentioned earlier. Love them even more with the ZMF pads. It improves the bass and gives it a little more body while not impacting the soundstage, clarity, and vocals like the stickers did.

I have the original HD800 with the infamous treble spike. I’m contrarian by nature and sought it out specifically because it’s hated more than the S edition and I frankly loved it. Now I just bought a 8xx off eBay without the mod because I wanted an 800 that is warmer with more bass and figure if I’m going to get a side grade, might as well go to the extreme and get the other most controversial one!
