Official Schiit Vali 2 Thread

Well that rules out a sagging or intermittent filament supply. Sucks to have a problem, but at least Schiit is very responsive when a problem occurs. I have (or have had) over a dozen pieces of Schiit, and have only had a problem with one. Sent it to them, and they fixed it and had it on the way back 3 days after receiving it. Nice to have that kind of customer service.
you said "sagging filament supply"

I don't think @Ripper2860 is subscribed to this thread so I thought I was safe. But no. 🤣
I have a question about your saggy filaments
So, in the interest of actually learning something, is this referring to the fact the heaters might not be getting enough power to heat things enough for the electrons to get off their ass and start flowing?

Yes. Not enough heater power, no electron cloud for you.

However, electrons have such tiny asses you'd think just playing some 60s Motown tracks in the other room would get them up and grooving.

** and if these don’t get those negative ionasses moving, this should do the job:

Yes. That's a very good technical explanation. 🤣

And sagging is a technical term for low breasts voltage.

@jonathan c

You've always been a wealth of knowledge regarding tubes. The JW2C51 you recommended is tremendous with the Vali2++!!!!! My buddy is coming down to visit in a few weeks and is bringing his Vali 2 (no +++'s). I wanted to purchase a similarly GREAT tube for his amp. Any recommendations would be appreciated! :beerchug:

Thanks

Leo

Are there any other places to get adapters for the Vali 2++ other than ebay? They seem to be impossible to find unless I'm looking at the wrong places. Tubedepot doesn't seem to have any. I've been wanting to try the RCA Command 5670 but it's impossible to find and the WE 396A but I really don't want to pay more for the tube than the actual amp. So that basically leaves me with wanting an adapter

^^ only because of the experience / generosity of Head-Fi tube magi …. e.g. bcowen, Paladin79, Ripper2860, Galapac ….

For the Vali 2 (no +++s), without adapter: Amperex PQ 6922, Amperex PQ 7308, Sylvania 6922 (green print). With a 5670 —> 6922 adapter (from Tube Depot): Raytheon CK 5670, GE 5-star 5670, RCA command 5670.

I have the GE JAN 5670W in mine and it sounds better than the stock tube.

The tubes on ebay are a lot of fun! And they are cheap! Just look for the guys selling out of big lots, often these are new and less than ten bux shipped, I already have 7 tubes and only paid ~ $40 ea for 2 western electric and ~ $30 ea for two Tung Sol ... otherwise it's been $5 - 15 for Sylvania's and Soviet 6n3ps of 3 mica formation!

I also like the adapters.
