I get a really bad scratching noise on the brand new Vali ++ pot. Anyone else had the same issue?
Is it an electrical noise or physical? If physical, pull the knob out just a fraction of a mm. I had that with my Magni.

Listening to this from Roon > BF 2/64 > Vali 2 ++ along with my Grado Hemps (G cushions). Love it! A tremendous experience!..... That is, until I start listening with the same setup but replacing the Vali2 ++ with the Valhalla 2. Better instrument separation, highs sparkle vs. meh, bass is more controlled. Overall, a more refined and satisfying sound. However, if you want to dip your toe into tubes, you can't go wrong with the Vali 2 ++
This is for me of course! YMMV!!!

Can anyone identify this tube?

It came in a Vali 2 (original not "+" of any kind) that I bought used on Head-Fi. It was described as the "original tube," which would lead me to think it's a 6BZ7. It has no markings. Unlike other 6BZ7s I've seen, the getter post is not round wire but a rectangular "U" shape.

It's one of my favorite tubes and I'd like to get a backup -- but what is it?! Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hey guys I'm loving my 2++! Drives my HE 400se stealth just great. I have some 4.4 mm earbuds I want to use. Can I use an adapter with this amp?
Thanks

Sure, if you can find the right adapter. Here's one I found quickly...a bit pricey though. Check the diagram in the description to be sure the 4.4mm plug on your earbuds is the same.

If you want to roll tubes, Vali 2++ is the amp for you! The tube types it takes are available in NOS NIB from a variety of brands, and a variety of countries. Even just from Russia manufacture, there are tons of cheap 6n3p tubes of excellent quality, OTK selected and triple mica for low prices! Sylvania 3 mica new in box for $13 plus postage. 2 mica is less, though the 3 mica is better.

Great amp for the guy who wants high quality headphone amplification, and also likes to play with their food!

Start here, and focus on the headphones for awhile.

Second is Jot 2. Find out how what you're "missing" in the detail department.

If you need more detail, stage, etc, start saving for ampsandsound gear. In the meantime, a used Mjolnir 2 is a great way to get most of the way there.

I have an identical looking tube. It probably came with the 2+, but might've come with a 2 many years ago (I think my 2 came with a different one marked Canada 6bz7.

The 2 and 2+ were identical type tubes.

Have you asked Schiit? Maybe someone there is a Schiit tube historian who can help you. I would think there's some geek up there keeping track.

It may be they still have these in stock. They sell 6bz7's of some kind in single's and pairs at $40 each.

If you don't need to go the balanced route the Asgard 3 is a terrific amp. I've had one in my amp family for years. Some have come and gone but the Asgard 3 has stayed. It's a fantastic match with the new Modi multibit 2 as with the other DACs I've used with it.
The Vali 2++ Is a terrific little amp. I'm liking the RCA Command 5670 and the GE 5 Star 5670 with it.
