I sent the dark-sounding Amiron back and bought the DT 1990. No regrets, I love the 1990 (but only with Analytical pads).

I urge you not to buy the V3 without an audition. It is very different than you would expect. Extremely dark sounding. Nothing like the traditional Beyer sound. It is also 25 ohm instead of their classic 600 ohm T1 v1 and v2. I think this was an attempt to get more into the plug into portable devices like your phone. You must hear before buying.
Not possible to hear before buying.
I must take a chance.
I also can get DT 1990 for a good price.(dealer return) 35% off
Beyerdynamic dark? Im not used to dark sound
Have tryed amiron. They are boring.
But I like my 1770.

A pads? Is that the velour pads?
Using Velour on my 1770. Most comfy

Both sets of pads included with the DT 1990 are velour, but they sound different. This review comes closest to my opinion of the DT 1990 Pro and has photos of the pads, with a good description of their sound quality. The only thing I would add is that the B pads are more likely to add sibilance, IME.

My Grado/Beyer combo is:
Grado GH2's and DT880's (600 Ohm)/T5's, gen 3.

The GH2's are my favourite headphones and the 880's are working hard.
I thought my new amp brought them to new highs, but now I am not so sure.
The T5's are new to me. Nice sound, great isolation and strong bass when called upon.

Jury's still out on the Beyers, but I am hopeful. Neither one has the screeching treble of the T5p.2's, so they're a mile ahead already.

Anyone with DT1770/1990 and T1 G3?
Is T1 still to dark after using it some weeks?
