I've heard that the newer version (silver) HD650 is more bass light than the old.

Also heard that the 2005 DT880 is more bassy than the old DT880?

So which of the two have more bass?

Would obviously like answers from those who have heard both!!

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of listening to either headphone, but I would say(based on what I've read) the HD650 would have the better bass response.

The 650 is not bass heavy by any means.  My Denon A100 has more bass.  Tighter and louder.  Maybe try the DT990.  That is supposed to be bass overload.

Hi!

My old (black silk) HD-650 sounds adequate in bass on my Sony MD deck, or Zama HPA-1 headphone amp.
That said, bass is present, strong IMO, but not too dominating, just it's there...

I only heard 2005 DT-880 for short time and sharp, hissing treble was overwhelming impression IMO. I liked the 2003 DT-880 quite a bit more.

Sorry if it's been discussed thousand times before.
