New TOL A&K DAP : the AK Ultima SP1000

I have the SP1000m and I've been using it as a USB dac on my desktop a lot these days. Is it OK to just leave it plugged, turned ON, in USB DAC mode? Or should I be turning it off and on every day? I'm asking because I wonder about battery charging / conditioning issues. TIA.

I cannot hear what is not there to my ears.
Other external things do have an influence much greater. Even wearing glasses and removing them. But firmware to date I have heard no change. Of course you may well have but this is a rarity.

I am the biggest fan of my SPk1cu so I am not posting to just incite controversies. I was and am now in the camp that a software update CAN cause SQ change and I confirmed that today.....???....

I just upgraded to 1.31CM and SPk1cu just sounded horribly right after the update. I can't describe what it was but it sounded like listening to lifeless music on a 2 dimensional plane. I almost chucked the DAP against the wall. For about an hour of listening in frustration and disappointment, I tried to convince myself it was my brain. Then I powered SP1k off / on for the first time after upgrade and listened again. Immediately I heard the magic sound returned!!!!

Based on this experience, I am convinced that I heard a difference and do think it is possible to change SQ via a software update.

What you seemingly heard was what appeared to be a poor download/installation that was repaired by a hard restart. Nothing to do with the firmware having a change of sound quality.

Don't understand that. If you leave the AK on permanently like that it will run out of battery anyway.
I use my SP1000 as a music server connected to my DAC by usb. Playing music it will last about 5 hours, doing nothing about 10 hours. I only unplug the usb connection to the DAC when the AK needs recharging.

If you have it connected in usd dac mode to your computer it will charge no matter if idle or playing. I use mine this way connected to pi 4 as a roon endpoint.

Not on my case. It runs out of battery. Maybe depends on the DAC. I use Terminator.
That could be it. Some usb decrappifiers do not pass 5v power rail. I use Jitterbug and it does.

I don't use a purifier. Straight to the DAC
I misunderstood your first post. You are not using the sp1k as a dac but as a library. In that mode it will discharge.

IMO no one can give you an answer.
No clue to tell.
They wrote that "For AK" and you want to use for AK, so you must trust on them or wont buy if worry.
If they give a diagram, there's clue to judge by other person
