I actually went for the sp1000CU with amp and then also got the sp1000ss (2nd hand one too). Better than buying the sp2000. As I already have sp1000. But if you have none. Then maybe the sp2000 as it will be lighter to carry.

Just downloaded the free trial Qobuz and on my first test song, Qobuz is dramatically better than Tidal based_ listening to 2face by Lucan Estrada (16bit 4khz). Tidal sounds flat while Qobuz is holographic! Will do further evaluation before switching. Give it a try!!!!

I love Tidal but SQ matters. I hope someone with connection to Tidal tells JayZ to up their game or else........

Upgraded to firmware v1.20 on my SP1000m a few days ago and I could swear the sound has changed for the worse. There is less detail and there is what I can best describe as a slightly 'muffled' sound. I first felt this listening through my Anandas but wasn't convinced but I am also hearing a difference with my Momentum True wireless too.

Is my imagination playing tricks with me?

Well OK but it is strange that I feel the perceived difference fairly clearly and through more than one pair of headphones/earphones.

Also I'm not the first to say this.

Maybe it's like seeing ghosts, everyone disbelieves until they see one for themselves and then it's a different story.

Since you have heard the worst changes after flashing the player, we can assume that this way the manufacturer encourages you to buy a new model of their player.

As per my observations, with amp on low gain widens the soundstage, better separation and detail. On high gain, much wider soundstage, airier, more sparkle more power output. Didn't try on Utopia, but for my modded Elear, I'm loving it even more.

Recently acquired sp1000. What is the consensus for a good carrying case to throw this into a bag during travel? (Beyond the supplied leather case).
