I just tried my Hifiman Susvara with a 6.5/3.5 adapter, connected to the AK SP1000 +amp and it's very good (high gain), but I still have to raise the sound level to 120 (max at 150) and I think I will fall back to 80 with the 2.5 balanced output of the AK+amp.
All this to ask if anyone would know a good balanced 2.5 to 2x2.5 cable, which doesn't seem common, thank you

I see that many of you already own the amp. Could you share some experience about sq benefits with easy to drive iems? Whith home hifi I experinced that even the easiest to drive speakers scale up with a more powerful amp. Is it the same with iems and sp1000 amp?

AK have said that there’s no difference in SQ per se with the amp, because the DAP is still doing the DA conversion and EQ etc.
So in theory it will ‘just’ drive harder-to-drive cans with the same DAP, with the same SQ as when using no amp and easier-to-drive IEMs (obviously if the harder-to-drive cans are more expansive / higher quality, then there should be an SQ improvement just from that).

However, following your point about home hifi and applying it to the guitar world - specifically with tube amps and clean or low gain tones - there is definitely a perceived improvement in SQ with a higher wattage (louder) amp with cleanish tones due to the extra headroom of the amp, which allows for more dynamics to come through. I would expect to “hear” / “perceive” a bit more depth / width and dynamics, all else being equal (same guitar and any effects pedals). The same is true with higher voltage effects pedals.
The guitar forums are full of similar conversations about the benefits of trading up to ‘higher headroom’ valve amps from lower wattage ones.

So I would expect a similar effect by adding a higher headroom amp to the DAP, even with the same easier-to-drive IEMs. When I use my little tube-driven ALO CDM amp with a DAP, I get the same effect. Although I don’t know if the same thing applies when it’s all digital rather than analogue.

Look forward to hearing from owners of the SPK and amp about whether this is true in this case.
