Hi, I think the gold just has a different sound signature, but it's not 'better'; I and a lot of other people prefer the blue.

I heard it, it sounds just like the blue except there is a little less 'air' between the notes. Slightly 'thicker' sound.

Yeah I’m sure the sound difference isn’t too drastic, probably a good thing I went with my gut and held off.

I switched to gold from blue. To my ears, "air" is pretty much the same between them. But I hear just a bit of "edges" on every single note that presents better separation. It's like changing a regular font to bold style but just by a touch. I also sense slightly deeper decay. Anyway, I don't regret my decision.

Can i use the equalizer in bluetooth mode and perceive any change of sound in my bluetooth headphones?

I believe the EQ does work when outputting via Bluetooth. I'm not 100% positive as I've never been asked that question and don't use Bluetooth with any of the players. I will confirm. Maybe someone here who uses Bluetooth headphones can chime in also.

Why not just bump up a couple db with the eq on sp1000? You should be able to get the desired results that way and not spend the extra cash.

OK, so 'bold' is bigger, thicker. Thicker notes. Hence less 'air'; I think we are saying the same thing!
