I had an issue with my 2.5mm jack before. I am not sure why AK insists on fragile 2.5mm jack. 4.4mm is much better and sturdy. Hope we can unite.

I've never had an issue with a 2.5. I don't find them fragile at all.

I would hate to jinx myself, but I have had and AK100 MKII, AK300, AK380 Copper and an SP1000. I've never had an issue with an AK player, to me they are extremely reliable and built like tanks.

Hey guys, slightly off topic, but I received my new IEMs (A64 Tia Fourte) and wondering what to expect when it comes to break-in (not just how long, but sonics).
Thx.
Thx.

While my AK is fine, my 2.5 cable's plug is slightly bent.I had an issue with my 2.5mm jack before. I am not sure why AK insists on fragile 2.5mm jack. 4.4mm is much better and sturdy. Hope we can unite.
4.4mm plug will sit in so tight and sturdy. It will be extremely difficult, if not impossible to bend the 4.4 plug.
I had my 2.5 mm plug bent before so you have to be careful with it.

I've been using 2.5's for years, and as long as you are careful with them they are fine. I wouldn't shove a DAP in my jeans pocket with a 2.5-ended cable and walk around and sit down and bend over, that's asking for trouble (even a 3.5 doesn't always like that treatment) but I walk with my DAP in a belt case or, when I had a smaller DAP, in my shirt pocket, and have never suffered a consequence. It really depends on how you treat your equipment. And I am not seeing a slew of posts across Head-Fi bemoaning bad experiences with 2.5 jacks. Yes, the 4.4 is more robust, but for those of us with expensive cables, having to re-terminate or repurchase would be very expensive indeed.
I am actually having more concerned with having different termination type costing more than necessary for consumers.
A lot of vendors are now adopting 4.4 mm so I think we are heading in the right direction. I am sure many folks will be happy
if AK adds 4.4 mm in the future releases although they have to consider re-termination.

They've got a center in Irvine (Los Angeles) across the street from Ultimate Ears but I don't know if they do repairs there. I believe that is where Jason is located.
They do repair there for sure. Sent my ak240 to replace battery and fix the volume wheel. Great service btw.

Don't know if/when this will happen, but for now stick to 2.5mm termination with 4.4mm adaptors Or look for cables like Dita with interchangeable connectors (just keep in mind, Dita Oslo is a very warm tone copper cable).
Did you try the Oslo cable?Don't know if/when this will happen, but for now stick to 2.5mm termination with 4.4mm adaptors Or look for cables like Dita with interchangeable connectors (just keep in mind, Dita Oslo is a very warm tone copper cable).
