New TOL A&K DAP : the AK Ultima SP1000

We recommend a Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0/3.0 compatible charger. Samsung uses a proprietary "Fast Adaptive Charging" standard that is supposed to be compatible with the Qualcomm QuickCharge standard, but at least in my personal experience I find the Samsung S6 charger doesn't always fast charge my LG G5 or SP1000/KANN.

Oh thanks.
Regardless QC compatibility, an Apple iPad/ iphone charger would do no harm for a normal charging speed right?

Just received my IEMS JH 13V2 directely from Moon-Audio. The upgrade cable is great and strong. It was my first time to see in real JH audio IEM and to wear and listen to.
Great sound with SP1000SS. There is no human word to describe, its sound so great in my ears.
Have been hesitating for long time and im now happy with my combo.
I'm now looking for the same design and perform upgrade cable for my SE846 Shure. If someone know where I can get at reasonable price because I'm now coming from a bit far.
Now please let me enjoy the Iems couple with SP1000SS....
Thanks.

Congrats on finding a great pairing! JH upgrade cables are fairly expensive due to the 4 pin connectors and bass module. The Moon Audio Silver Dragons are actually priced on the lower end at $350 but you can also get a pure silver, 8 wire cable from Null Audio for about $50 less (you can see pics with Laylas in the reviews section):

They also have a copper version for even less.

Custom cable for the Shure? Moon has/had a Silver Dragon v1 that is fairly affordable (I had one for my 846 before I sold them both). Or try Ted at Ted's Headphone Lounge, he makes excellent cables at affordable cost. Balanced will cost more than single-end for any cable you get. End connectors can also affect the pricing. That said, I have a Silver Dragon balanced on my JH Angie and it made quite a difference in the sound compared to both the stock JH balanced cable and my Moon Black Dragon balanced cable.

is your silver dragon cable with bass pod or without ?

Bass pots are included on the Moon SD and BD cables for JH because the original JH cables include bass pots (although you CAN purchase a cable from Moon without them if you special order it). The Shure cable was the original SD, no pots because the 846 is not tunable.

Had a very short time with it, but I think I might have just found my ideal DAP in my wish list that replaces the AK380 Copper.

Effect Audio don't charge extra for balanced connectors

so... now you just need to cut the cable to the desired length. It is not THAT difficult if you have some soldering knoledge.
Unfortunately bmichels my soldering knowlegde is ZIPPO LOL.

On the other hand I carried on with my research, it turns out thunderbolt 3 also uses USB type C connecting port and the speed is compatible AND its USB 3.1(1st gen). So I bought a thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 3 Belkin cable and it works!!! And the shortest one is only 0.5m. Now it's A LOT more portable. Now I have 256+200+500 = 956Gb on the go!

A simple SD card reader like this $6 one with a 500 Gb SD card inside will be much more portable and I guess will eat less power

I just now need to get a 500 Gb SD card to try ...

just curious if u are upgrading to the ss or copper version if u are using ak380 copper.
just want to know what most people are upgrading to if they had the copper version of ak380. I have tried both of sp1000ss and sp1000cu and I am slightly leaning towards cu for now. Thanks

Just a disclaimer, I didn't own any AK players personally but I do experience them a lot other than SP1000 recently.

But I will say if you prefer musicality, copper housing on the ak380 CU does help and imo its better than ak380 standard. But this is just from my ears alone so different people hear different things due to different headgear preferences and ear shapes.

My only advice is...well...

Listen first, then decide on your own. :)
