CDM is better single ended than Cv5. I have both and I prefer CDM for its higher musicality and lusher midrange to Cv5... Cv5 is more difficult to pair with iems and headphones imo. CDM is easier in that regard...

today listened sp1k. compared with wm1z and with my wm1a+hugo combo . tried to decide which one high-end player to buy. I inclined to sony, I always prefered sony sound more than ak sound, owned a lot players from both of them, and sony now much much cheaper in Russia, more than 1200 usd difference. but now I really don't know. new AK is really really good. in terms of resolutions and details its much better than sony and hugo. for classic and jazz fans it is definitely must have. but sony little warmer and more emotional in some way, great for rock, blues ect. hugo not in this league anymore, less detailed than ak, less emotional than sony. I really impressed by this new product, but not sure should I buy it, I am affraid too much details will be problem for long sessions and I can tired of this. and I still prefer sony design and interface more, new ak better than 380, but sony still leader here for me, as well as in build quality. sony more solid and more pleasant to keep in hand and to look. but sp1k is a new boss in the city, it sounds really great, almost perfect.

It was unbalanced....yes enough Power,nice sounding IEM.....but for this Price?bad material,bad and cheap construction,...you can not take other Ear Tips.....Spin Fit,Spiral Dot etc etc...for this price,,,better you take the KSE1500...you get more for your money

So i am not unlucky with my Sp1000......but i am more happier with my AK380SS/SS AMP....and i think i am not the only one which is hopping that ASTELL&KERN will bring a AMP MODULE for the ULTIMA

The LCD-i4 launch has had QC issues, but "bad material, bad and cheap construction"? Please indulge me what makes you say that. The LCD-i4 widstands 1.4m height drop onto marble and concrete floor with tiny paint scratch, no damage to its sound quality at all. An acrylic ciem would probably get a crack.
I'm using standard Spinfits S and SS on my LCD-i4, the small bore ones, same ones I used on almost all other uiems.
The KSE1500 forces you to carry a brick stack which is further hampered by 9h max battery.

Next time try to hear Hugo 2. It's in his own league.

Similar impressions here, had the wmz1 for a few days to compare side by side with my SP1000, AK people they really nailed the sound tuning with this player, is really really good.

I hope that in future FW updates they fix the equalizer

How do firmware updates change the sound of the player, under the hood DSP or something like that? Is this intentional by A&K or just what users report on?

Firmware updates from Astell&Kern will never change the sound characteristics of the player. We use firmware updates to improve user experience, fix bugs, make improvements to existing functions or to add new features.

..... I mean that the AK380SS unbalanced without amp is stronger than the SP1000 unbalanced

For example, if I take 5 certain tracks, scroll up on VOLUME 140 with both players, with the SAME TRACKS .....then the AK380SS (without amp) does not distort, the SP1000 distorts significantly. .... so what do we conclude from this?

And this happens with the K812 .... a headphone which is very easy to drive

PS. both have allegedly 2.2VRMS .... so something has to be wrong here.....and believe me its not the Headphone..i have many HP'S at Home
