Lack of ability to purchase most of the suggestions here in UK with simple returns and reasonable prices.
 
Sure, I could buy every single one mentioned here, but most would be from the US with ridiculous shipping costs and great difficulty to return them if I am not happy.

The IE80 is a damn fun headphone - huge soundstage, well made and sound great. 2 Year warranty.  They are not the finest of the fine - everyone can pick out its deficiencies ad infinitum, but they are a hell of a gateway drug into this mass of insanity.
 
I can pick apart any choice if the mood strikes me, but for listening to music, you could certainly make a worse choice - for more money even...
