I don't know what the Sam hell Sony is doing 😳 But I do know it's easy to know if you have a capped one with that stupid message interrupting you.

Pic of Asian pacific back (HK) with extra certification markings. Ha, just noticed they have a business.gov. industry website... why?

Yours has a lot more printed on its back compared to our Japanese ones.

Wow that's a lot of markings, my Japanese one has much less, but it's cool that the (I assume) manufacturing date is printed 12-2022, based on the s/n of mine, it might be built in a similar date, I wonder now how can this be checked

Not yet will do later still enjoying player...can i use REW sweep on an imac? or windows machine only ?
I tested with REW sweep in a windows machine and a mac mini having exactly the same results

Desktop or laptop and you have a real line-out rather than mic ?

The USB cable that came with your DAP can be Used (if your PC has normal type USB sockets).

Line-in, the Mic input method looks a bit dodgy from the graphs. Also need the 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male lead.
ok i got the cable in selected usb dac its playing but graph not moving on REW preference ...went into the sound card of imac selected walkman for output
Do i run calibrate sound while walkman is playing

If you are using the "calibrate soundcard" under "Preferences" method you don't have to play anything. REW should be set to output to Walkman (set to USB DAC Mode and connected) and input from your line-in (if you have one) connected to the Walkman's headphone jack with a 3.5 to 3.5 mm cable. It's basically a loop where REW outputs a measurement sound via USB and listens via line-in.

For completest sake, the rear of mine also from Hong Kong.
As my test results were deemed inconclusive, are there any from Hong Kong that DO have the fault? 🤔

Those had no signal and obviously weren't a line in of any kind. Probably just the soundcard. But I was just saying you need an input not output 😀 mic input was using a sweep not REW, and it worked fine.
