The following link may prove useful in resolving this:

http://www.mcelhearn.com/how-to-listen-to-high-resolution-audio-files-on-a-mac/

If the above doesn't work, try reducing buffer size that to see if that has any effect.

Integer mode works only with whole numbers and their multiples. So for 96/192, try to set at 48kHz instead.

Otherwise disable Integer mode and see if the issue's resolved

I tried changing integer mode, direct mode, buffer size. None made a difference. From the article, I tried changing audio devices and it keeps going back to 2ch-32bit Integer despite changes, although the rate follows the song played.

I know at least one other person had this, based on a review, but that might have been with the earlier USB (Gen 2), whereas this is newer USB (Gen 3) on a Mac.

It won't change from what is playing (it keys off source). Same on other outputs, not just the Yggy's.

I was reading past posts on "Schiit Happened" and saw a post that I hope it's not related to this issue:

  • And let’s go back to the DSP code, shall we? The early versions required a computer tether to reboot the processor on the fly, when it had a little oopsie or two when changing sample rates. Not exactly something you’d want to bring to a show, let alone ship.

If it's doing a power-on-reset, I hope it's not impacting the warm-up time. If it does, I haven't been able to tell the difference so far, so wouldn't really be an issue for me.

I notice the relay clicks on my Yggy quite often just simply browsing the web.
(AES connection BTW...)

Still, it's better than no click at all which happened to my first unit after a week

Route system sounds to the computer speakers, not the DAC. Or, on Windows, turn off system sounds.

If A+ has exclusive access, then i don't see how there can be any switching. Try playing around with the buffer settings.
Also is "Integer mode" selected. If not select it. That should solve your issue.

There's info on Integer mode and how it affects sound quality at the link below FYI.

Yep, Integer Mode, been these settings for months:
+ Exclusive Access Mode
+ Direct Mode
+ Integer Mode (mode 1)
+ buffer (4G, ~101min at 44.1, ~23 at 192)

My iMac has 16G memory, little else running. It plays fine, without glitches. I just hear the Yggy click when going between 44.1 and 96/192. Note that it's a click coming from the Yggy itself, not a signal going through the audio to headphones. Like either a muting mechanism or signal routing.

Not entirely sure what the confusion is. Yggy clicks (that's the muting relay) whenever you switch sample rates through USB or otherwise. The only reason USB is less prone to this is because, by default in Windows, Windows is resampling everything to whatever rate you've got it set at, so no clicks.

Since A+ is playing all files at their native rate instead of resampling, you'll get clicks whenever the sample rate changes between tracks.

When I using JRiver (imac version) as source for ygg, the bitrate showed on the ygg panel doe not always reflect the bit rate identified in JRiver. Is there anything I need to configure? Sometimes the bitrate just stuck on a high bitrate tracks but never goes down when I play low bitrate tracks. Or it won't go up when I am playing high bitrate flac format music files.

Anyone can tell me what to configure/do? Thanks.

If you want Yggdrasil to play everything "as is" with no conversion, you'll need to configure JRMC to do so:

Player > DSP Studio > Output Format > (Checked)
(In the output format section) > Sample Rate: Configure each sample rate that you want passed through to "unchanged". For anything that Yggdrasil can't handle (higher than 384k?) change it to something lower that it can handle.

If you have trouble, or need more info, come on over to the JRiver Mac Forums:

Thank you. Will try it tomorrow.

Just got the Studio Six today and was able to plug in my Yggy for the first time in the 9 months I've owned it :grinning:
