Exactly what the title said, I was looking for information on the Empirical Audio gear and Bel Canto gear when I noticed they were using CEntrance code to implement their 24/96 compatibility.

So I decided to check their webste and noticed they planned to launch a product themselves, I thought it may interest some people so here it is:

CEntrance -> DACport

Their blog has been updated with photos, MSRP and specs btw: DACport development blog

It's been engineered for bit-perfect obsessed ppl, I like the sound of that

at 500 dollars they better be extrememly good.

I expected it to be comparable in price to there other port products not over 3 times as much.

Perhaps they will lower the price but honestly they could charge a lot less and still make a good profit on each unit.

does anyone know what dac they have used for this unit?

I got an email from them today with a code for $50 off and free overnight shipping if I preorder. They're expected to ship around December 22. I seriously considering it. I need a DAC/amp combo for use with my new MacBook Pro. Does it work with Mac?

Anyone receive their DacPort yet? Mine was shipped yesterday (December 22) with FedEx overnight. The estimated delivery was supposed to be today (December 23) by 3PM, but it is not here yet. According to the tracking, the latest activity is:

Dec 23, 2009 4:58 AM; Departed FedEx location; FORT WORTH, TX

So it seems like the package left Texas but never arrived anywhere? That makes no sense. Any idea what is going on? I'm in California, by the way.

BTW, for the curious amongst us this thing uses an AK4396 DAC and OPA1612(a lower grade OPA211 in dual form w/ improved crosstalk) op-amps....and it would appear the same HP amp as the STX(wasn't 100% confirmed, and I hope not). Too bad they didn't put AD797BRZ.

their bit-perfect drivers sound pretty top-notch if what I've been told is the truth! basically it would allow 100% bit-perfect even in MME/DS, as it's cheating windows to force not resampling it/mixing the sound in any way....still too pricey for me to give it a try, and I don't really like OPA1612 or the HP amp they supposedly used.

Talk about grossly mis-judging a market. There's no point in 24/96 if the rest of the unit is just a basic soundcard-quality DAC and HP amp.
