Yeah I'm sure they are legit, Amazon would have still been $100 cheaper if they shipped to Aus....

So I got the try out the x1 at the NY meet yesterday. I can't say I was really impressed with the sound. It sounded a bit wooly next to the akg k702 and hifiman he-300, but the comfort of the x1 was slightly better than those other two. Something to note, I have a small head and the x1 fit me rather snug so it may be too small for some as others have noted.

Panama, what notch do you use your 770s on? Like how many notches would be left hidden under the headband? Me, I can wear them with maybe just one notch available. This is why I think the X1 wouldn't fit my longish head at all.

I'm not sure how many dots there are in total but I wear it with three dots showing on the inside, so about four clicks down from the narrowest position.

I have  the K702 anni and, even though I do like them, I'm still enjoying the X1. The fun sound signature is just very addictive, and they are very comfortable, they work very well with the current indie/electronic/club music that I have on rotation.
I think I would use other headphones for classical and jazz, or for more neutral serious listening.

I would like to check out the He-300 but I have so many headphones, its hard to justify getting another pair that may be similar to what I already have.

I use my DT770 at maximum and they just fit. For the X1 I was about to sell mine or modify the headband when Tyll's article came to the rescue. Now they're perfect.

Explain please. Bending the headband?

Basically you just bend the upper headband to be more Conehead in shape. So previously it's more circular and if you bend it to be more oval, the ear cups can extend further down for bigger heads. It's in his video on innerfidelity.com
