How did you guys solve the problem of echo with these headphones?
I can't get any mic to work properly with Teamspeak.
If I lower the recording volume, then there's no echo but they barely hear me and I have to yell. If I increase it, then it catches sound from headphones, thus creating echo when they speak

What mic are you using with them?

I imagine that a boom mic pointed away from the drivers would provide the best cancellation to block the headphone's sound leakage.

I still can't decide if I should go with Beyerdynamic DT880 600ohm or Philips X1. I know I will need an amp for Beyers, and not for Philips. Philips headphones do look a lot nicer in my opinion.

I have both the x1 and dt990 600 ohms. The x1 is more comfortable to wear. It also has more sub bass and less mid bass than the dt990. The x1 treble is a bit more relaxed. I find the mids are a bit darker and more recessed than the dt990.

For what it's worth I decided to sell the 990.

I have both the X1 and DT880. I would have to agree with bassboysam's opinion.

The two headphones have very different sounds from each other, but both sound very good. As already pointed out, the X1s do not need an amp to drive them. They sound remarkably good coming straight out of an iPad.

Also, the cushions on the X1s are NOT user replaceable, the ones on the DT880s can be easily replaced.

The sound stage on the DT880s is better, but they have a brighter sound overall. I find that the highs on the DT880s can be "grainy" at times, which I find distracting.

The X1s have smooth highs and rich bass. I find the X1s to be slightly more comfortable, but the DT880s are some of the most comfortable headphones I've tried.

The bottom line is that, if I were to choose just one of these headphones to keep, it would be the Fidelio X1, and I tend to LOVE BeyerDynamic products!

Let me know if you have any other direct comparison questions on these headphones.
