New Oppo BDP-103 & 105 previewed at Cedia

I got a Yamaha RX 810 Surround A/V Receiver, I was wondering how it would compare soundwise and in surround in movies with the BDP 103.

Should I get rid of it and connect my set top box and PS3 to the 103? Also would it be possible to just connect the BDP 103 to my receiver or would that be silly?
Apart from sound quality and surround there's one drawback for sure for me and that's no optical input on the 103. It does have one on the 105 but I cant justify the price difference for that.
So im also considering keeping both but then i might need some splitter to connect the coax analog outs from both the yamaha and oppo to (unless I can connect the oppo to the yamaha).

Im not sure what to do yet or what I can expect soundwise from the Oppo. Can anyone give me some advice please? Thanks in advance :)

you still need to connect the 103 to a receiver or amp at some point or there will be no sound.  There are plenty of options for you and you can pick what works for you (I was too lazy to look up what your AVR was).  If your AVR doen'st have HDMI then use the audio outs on the oppo to your AVR.  I still go HDMI from my oppo to my marantz avr but I do all the processing on the oppo and I use the audio outs to feed a seperet 2-channel system.

note, they are releasing info for the 105 now so that may mean pre-order sales could be available soon.  Quite a few people have the 103 now though it's still not officially released yet.

The biggest negative so far is that the COAX in only supports upto 24/96 even though the usb goes to 24/192.

I just setup the 103 and got a tiny issue I hope.. I got my set top box connected to the hdmi input at the back and I got the hdmi 1 output to my A/V receiver. I had sound and image (I disabled split mode on the 103 and set it in dual mode so A/V shouldnt get splitted) on my set top box but as soon as I insert a blu ray i seem to lose my sound. My yamaha receiver is one from the Aventage series. I dont get why im losing sound while switching to blu ray :frowning2:

Anyone have any ideas apart from trying to use the 2nd hdmi out?

AVS Forum has some great Home Theater participants. This site is more about the HP capabilities..

Haven't posted in a while, but I bought one of these bad-boys too.

What sold me was the fact that Nelson Pass was using the 95 to run the rig he brought to Burning Amp this year. If Nelson signs off on it, that's all I need to know.

wow, that was quick. Mine's been dropped off at fedex but it hasn't left the building yet and I still don't even have an expected delivery date posted.  Probably wont see it until next week.  And I ordered about 15 minutes after the email from Oppo went out...

I'm sure people on here have the 103 already, it would be nice to hear from them.  I stopped watching the 103 thread on AVS.
