Hi all

Just picked up an ak70 and am loving it but would like to know about your experiences with the wifi features.
I have a 200mbps connection with virgin media.
Reception is great all around the house but seems to be very weak on the ak70.
I thought 2.4ghz signal was better for range.
I can barely stream cd quality flac files to the device from my nas.
Forget about 24 bit 192khz!
I literally have to be in the same room as the router for it to be useful.
Before i buy wifi homeplugs, do any of you guys experience the same issue?
I can stream 24bit 192khz to every other device in the house without problems so I'm sure it's the ak70.
Just trying to find out if it is my unit or if the wifi is bad on all devices.

Thanks

I guess wifi is problematic for all the DAPs out there. I see these kind of wifi reception issues in all other DAP threads as well.

Thanks very much for the reply.
I'm new here (Long time lurker though!) so I'll have a look through some other threads too.

I'm glad it's not just my unit then.
I have a very old phone that can easily deal with 24 192 over wifi on 2.4ghz so I just find it strange that ak have gone with such a rubbish wifi receiver.
A lot of the time it can't even connect.
The signal strength is also significantly lower than all other devices connected to the network.
I was hoping the ak70 could easily;
Stream from my nas
Stream to my reference system
Be used as a remote
and also download files from my nas rather than going through my computer.

All these things heavily depend on wifi, I'm just very disappointed in ak and the product now.
Should have saved money and gone for a jr!

Can anyone else chime in with their experience?
All units can't be as bad as this!

All the Ak70 have an issue with weak wifi not just your unit.

The Jr has horrible ui good sound dodgy volume wheel so its kind of a different kettle of fish.

but the saving grace of the ak70 is how good it sounds via micro sd music and bluetooth etc

Thanks for the info.
It does sound great so i guess i'll just buy some homeplugs.
I feel like im out of my depth as im more of a "traditional" hi fi guy.
This will be my first step in the portable/headphone direction.

Can anyone recommend a pair of headphones to go with my new player?
I will of course listen before i buy but it would be good to have a place to start from you fine folk.
Willing to spend just under the cost of the ak70.

Thanks all

Hi , may i ask if it is normal for my AK70 to scan for music everytime i turn it on ?
It always have a "SD card safely removed" notification .
And not all songs appear in the "artists" . Could there be something im doing wrong ?

The card scan happens in all the AK players including the top end AK380.

I know this has been discussed, but does anyone have a simple way to transfer playlists from iTunes to the AK70? Or, barring that, to create them from scratch? The solutions I've seen involve a lot of complex file editing.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I have the AK Jr. There is a option to set auto library scan to OFF under SETTING.

I believe the later UI in the other players do not have this option. Anyway, only the initial scan takes more time as the database need to be updated.
I have my internal storage and also external card of 256GB each with 90% filled and the card startup takes about 30 secs at most.
