New in-ears from AKG
Jan 23, 2009 at 1:55 PM Post #16 of 35
I own a set of the K340s, I've had them a while now, and had none of the problems with complex compositions. I agree the volumecontroller is crap, it works, but I don't use it, so it's only function is annoying me with it's presence. The K330 is virtually the same but without the volumecontroller, I'd have gone with this one if it was available in less horrible colors.

I had no problems with isolation, but thats probaly because with the original silicones on it, it wouldn't stay put in my ear, so I immediately replaced them with some modded Shure black foamies. These work great, but they come off a bit too easy so they will be replaced with comply's soon.

I recently bought a pair of K430s too. Compared to the K416P (which I picked up for a colleague) the bass is a bit more clear and less boomy.

It seems that AKG's new offerings will be released in the US after all. Interestingly, there's no sign of the K370. Prices are on the steep side, as well...

I actually have no idea what's going on with Harman USA. They put out a press release in January stating, "The AKGs are coming! The AKGs are coming!" and still, one month after their supposed availability, there's still no sign of these new models. I really want to try the K319 but my patience is wearing thin.

Still not available in the US. A week or so ago, I emailed AKG using the online form on their website regarding availability and I have not yet gotten a response. Why would they put out a press release if they have no intent on selling any of these products? I'm officially done with waiting for AKG/Harman.

They are available in the US from Amazon with 10% off.

The prices are pretty silly though. $190 for a K450 and $120 for a K340

it's not that it has no bass or mids. it's just the highs are pretty harsh. but I didn't do just 5 hours burn in yet.

Thanks for the update jant71. I agree that the prices are just ridiculous. I'm glad that I'm only mildly interested in the new AKGs (now).

Any new/more in-depth impressions on the K330?

i would advise you guys not to buy the K321's i had them for like a week, they have realy harsh high's and crazy sibilience in the phones.....they also virtually lack any type of noise isolation..stick with the higher end AKG's such as the K450 or K340

Hi guyz!

I have gained from the knowledge and opinions of people in this forum, it’s time to give back!

Its been a long time I have an mp3 player in my pocket, and the last 2 years I made an attempt to seriously upgrade my portable sound, without becoming a poor man.

I have been blessed to be given the opportunity to own an ipod touch, which to my opinion is an exquisite hi-tech entertainment platform that changed my on-the-go entertainment forever.

However the player is not enough by itself. One needs some quality headphones with it. So I went through several ones. The AKG K330 (same as K340 without the useless vol. control) were my first in-ears bought in 2008. They served me well until my daughter thought it would be great to rip the one off and leave me without earphones in the middle of the summer. These AKGs never had the chance to meet my ipod that was bought from a friend at a great price later on.

Lately however during a visit to a local computer & multimedia store I came across these once more and re-purchased them.

If you look at my signature you might recognize some in-ears that are kind of urban legends nowadays. So how do the AKGs fare?

All I can say is GREAT!!!

The AKG K330 is not the best earphone on the planet. They are not very extended in the treble, the mids are a bit recessed, the bass is a bit overwhelmed.

But being mediocre in all respects it manages to offer an extremely enjoyable sound that makes me worship every song, every genre, every moment!!!

I carry these everywhere. If I was to choose one set of headphones out of my lot, it would be the AKGs. No second thoughts. No remorse!
