NEW HiBy R4

Regarding charging limits:
1. charging always to 100% was a conscious decision on the part of the dev team, thinking that users would not expect charging to be limited while device is powered off. Apparently everybody do actually expect this. Can I have a show of hands on this again?
2. if charging limit is not being respected even while device is in android, I have received feedback from users that this is charger related and a different charger may respect the limit. For example I have been told by a user that his 30w PD charger would not respect the limit while a 18w charger did (although we would be more concerned about the actual model of charger because as far as we can see the max charging power / voltage should not figure into this)

Quick impressions of the R4. Got mine last week and so far really enjoying it. This is my first DAP and it's meeting and exceeding my expectations so far.

Sonically, I think the soundstage is pretty good, not mind-blowing. Separation is quite good. Overall, the tonal balance is natural and uncolored. IEMs sound excellent on low gain, and full-sized headphones like the ZMF Bokeh and Hifiman HE1000 V2 sound sufficiently driven on medium gain. High gain, to me, sounds grainy even at lower volumes.

Zero issues with exFat formatted micro-SD card. Battery life is pretty decent, heavy listening sessions with hires files lasted me about 2 days. Playing DSD and FLAC files does get the unit pretty warm, but not to levels that I would consider alarming.

All in all, pretty great little DAP, and looks hella cyberpunk too.

I want the limit while charging in off mode.

I expected the charge limit to work while the device is powered off, so yes I’d like it to behave like this.

The charger that didn’t respect the limit I used is a 27w spigen model PE2103EU
Next time I’ll try with a 18w charger

I think if possible is to add an option to have it On or Off in the settings. So each person can choose for themselves.

The way I see it, if you set a charge limit, it means you don’t want your device to reach 100% wether it is on or off.
If you don’t want a limit then just turn that function off, it feels kinda redundant to add an extra step asking if you want that limit applied when the device is off as well.

Yes, I agree with you.

well, it usually hurts the battery less to charge it to full while the device is off than to do it while it's playing

In mobile phones there is the possibility of setting the charge to 80%, everyone says that the battery lasts longer, so I also would like it possible to choose the charging limit in my R4
The biggest phone brands have this like Samsung. It lengthens the battery life by not letting it go full cycle. In turn, this feature should let us enjoy our DAPs much longer.

Yes, but this was a question relating to whether the limit should apply both when the device is on and off. It currently applies only when on.
