Soundmagic HP100 for your needs, much better than M50!

Sorry, I didn't mean "neutral, neutral". haha I'm still new to this! I just wanted both the bass and the treble, so I thought neutral would be more of the in between... T____T" my mistake. In orchestral music, I love hearing the basses, tubas, and other low instruments. But I also love the trumpets, the trombones, cellos, violins, and all the other sections. I just want something.. powerful? o_o does that make sense?

powerful? i guess you want a dynamic and exciting sounding headphone that has a u curve sound signature then. no, neutral means equal amount of bass, mid, and treble. boosted bass and treble makes a u curve sound signature. i guess what you want is powerful tight bass, fair amount of treble and a little bit of recessed mid? in that case, the dt990 may actually be what you want... wish you live close to me, so i can just bring my dt990 over for you to audition...

M50 has terrible soundstage, just stating
HD598 on the other hand has excelent soundstage but may be too mellow for your need for power. so again the DT990 maybe be your suited option

really? o_o I heard it wasn't THAT bad...

the rest of the M50 is pretty good, bass, detail,midrange...in fact i like the tonality a lot. but it was just the soundstage that was the deal breaker for me (heard them during my audition at the shop between the HD558 and M50 SR125i) and afterall i can pretty much fix the tonality of the others using the eq, but cannot widen soundstage that much using the eq

Alright since my boyfriend is getting the m50, I've decided to get the dt990s

However, I'm not sure about what "ohm" is. And since I'll be using my iPhone, should I get an amp? If so, which one?
