To be honest, hardly anybody has heard the new line just yet - on a serious basis.
As for looks, I say "no comment" for the 555 and the 595.
But the 515 sure looks like the fugliest headphones that I've recently seen!

Well the naming seems pretty deliberate, since 595<600, I wonder how good it could possibly sound. That one looks pretty decent, I like the headband, However the sides of that 515 are pretty uhm, creative?

For the sound, I do not think any of these headphones can beat HD600, maybe HD580 can also beat them.
But I like HD 595 very much- not for the sound, just for the specs~
anyone want to be the first person to give us an impress on them.

Is Sennheiser trying to make phones bigger than the CD3000?!
Bleh. I don't like the new styling. It's ghetto-tastic. They should've trimmed them in gold.
OK, they're not that bad. But nothing to drool over. And the specs certainly are not drool material.
I'm not a big fan of extra mass for no reason. Looks like a restyling product filler, rather than anything remotely revolutionary.
I really want Sennheiser to do something more industrial, OK, maybe not quite as minimal as the Grado HP1000's. But they are nice looking.

I just can't get over the 515's ugliness. It look like that Altec Lansing console system monstrosity. Looks too cheesy/cheap for me. Oh well, anyway, when are these phones going to be available? I'm wondering how they'll sound.

The 515 is ugly, but the other two look really cool.

Damn, those are some very nice looking cans, a big step up from the old 590s and the 580/600/650. I wonder why the lower end models got the nice cosmetic upgrade, but the 650 did not? They look comfy too.

I don't think that these are going to really be replacing the 600 as the 650 is the replacement to the 600. The 580 600 and 650 are like there own series( higher impendance , different sound, even different cables) and these new ones are just replacing the low end with hopefully something affordable, good looking, and nice sounding. The hd595 might have a shot at sounding better then the 580, maybe even the 600 but I doubt it is really designed for that. It's just the new update to the lower end imo.

I agree, I understand that. But it's still mystifying why they'd make the lower-end modells so much sexier than their high-end ones. It seems like it should have been the 650s that got the cool new cosmetics, but whatever.

As cool as these new ones are since the 650 is a higher model it's maybe possible that these lower ones are cheaply made and the design alone is one of the reasons why they sound worse. But this is all just a guess they could sound better then the 650 who knows.
I personaly think the hd650 is better looking then these ( not that I don't like the look of these) maybe the guys from sennheiser felt that way too.

Do we have any idea when these are coming out?
Because my headphones just broke, and I'm about to push the button on etronics.com and buy some $150 580's. Should I be stopped?

I think th e 595's look great. I have been looking for a phone to replace my philips 890(gave it to my mom) and if they aren't to hard to drive and sound good I think the 595 might be the headphone to do it.

My guess is these are good sounding but not as good as the 580/600/650s. Surely these are cans Sharper Image will want to sell. I do not believe the 595 will sound better than the 580s.
Cheers,
Alex
