I wouldn't go rushing to conclusions such as this. The new 500's look to be a total redesign. One thing I do know is Tyll was never a fan of the 590 but has had quite favorable first impressions of the 595 and 515, this leads me to think they are probably quite different sounding than the 590's.

IS there a signal generator for PCs as well?
IF so, please provide a link. I've had a basic test in the EU when they tried to draft me into the mandotary German service five years ago...

I've let one of my parents know that I'd like the HD 595s for my B-day present. Its coming up in 7 weeks. Then things will be like

Can't wait!

Point taken. It will be interesting to see how these new headphones fit in to the Sennheiser range and if they will end up dropping any older models. The new 595's appear to be aimed at people that want a 650 but don't want an amp.

Not to be picky, but I don't think that's quite right either. I've been trying to come to grips with this too. The HD650 and HD595 FR graphs are not that similar. I think the HD 5X5 series is a whole new animal, and one to really look forward too.

I am a bit worried about the BASS reproduction on the 595 which is clearly the best of the lot. How would you grade the BASS with these headphones as reference :-
1] Grado SR-325/ SR-60
2] Beyer DT-770P
3] Senn HD-580

I am interested in knowing where you place the HD-595 in this list :-

1] Senn HD-580
2] Senn HD-600
3] Senn HD-650
4] Senn HD-555
5] Senn HD-515
6] Senn HD-595

Please sort the headphones in the order of your preference. Money aside - which one would you pick if you had this list to choose from.

Thank you

Thanks so much for the review Jan!!! That's just the sort of sonic signature I was hoping for. So the HD595 sonic balance is more like the Orpheus than the HD650, and the angled drivers have paid off for a nicer soundstage. Maybe that's Senn's new design philosophy.

Sounds like the HD555s will be an awesome bargain. I wonder if the HD595 and HD555 use the same drivers.

gsferrari, FWIW, headroom's FR graphs show the HD595 bass to be just as deep, if not a shade deeper, than the HD650 bass, but the HD595's bass is very smooth and even with no mid-bass hump, graphically. It may be that the HD650 mid-bass hump gives the auditory impression of deeper bass. It's going to be a subjective call which bass you think is "better."
