The 5th DAP to carry the FiiO M11 name, the M11S seems to be a logical successor to the original M11. FiiO told me that the North America MSRP will be $499, the same as the original (though actually cheaper if you account for inflation).

Basic specifications:
Dual ES9038Q2M, OPA920 opamps
670mW output power @32 Ohms (balanced)
5" 720p display (slightly smaller than the M11 Plus models)
15 hours battery life
Android 10

Availability: Check with FiiO.

I've unboxed it so far. I'll post a review ASAP.

Wow, one more choice to make: Hiby RS2, iBasso DX170, or this.

It seems dongles aren't going to replace DAPs quite yet.

My dongles (Paw S1 and RU6) are rarely used. Many practice reasons of not using dongle and it is only after I was attractive to the ideal of phone+dongle and actually tried to use dongles did I truly understand why DAP is still more preferrable.

I was excited by Hiby rs2 but found, that my CTM ce320 IEMs got better synergy with xDuo link 2 dongle based on ESS chip, rather than with r2r Cayin RU6 dongle, cuz that combo was way too dark and relaxed.

If m11s SQ tuned to be “aggressive“, that is better option for me.

Great video. Do we have a release date on this yet? Of course I just got the DX170, and now this one is announced in the same price range with more RAM and a better processor. I have the M11 Plus ESS and its just a huge DAP. The DX170 caught my eye as it was way smaller, and has Android 11.

I saw the dimensions on the FiiO website. 125.2 x 74 x 18.5mm. Even thicker than the ESS Plus, which is quite a chunky DAP. Glad that it is smaller than the M11 Plus, and as I've loved FiiO Daps for quite a while going back to the original X5, I'm excited to check this out to compare to the DX170.

It's the same thickness as the M11 Plus ESS, very slightly thinner (the right-side bevel of the Plus ESS isn't there) and 10mm shorter.

I would like to know how far M11s SQ can exceed from K3s due to the almost same audio hardware specs.

M11s has the Snapdragon 660. if the sound quality are similar between, dx170 and R5gen2, it will be the smoothest DAP in this price range. No brainer for streaming music.
Btw anyone who got the dx170 could tell me, has Ibasso fix the electrostatic noise while wifi or bluetooth turned on?

Not quite the next video I had expected to make, but I thought I'd test it, since it came up:

No interference or noise for me, and I only use it to stream so WiFi is always enabled. Same when using it in Bluetooth DAC mode.

Thank you for verifying this, SRC bypass is a major selling point for me for DAPs generally.

Android stock is so frustrating in this respect, wish it handled it like Chrome OS which is quite good for USB native sampling.
