Hi, I have a pair of Koss PortaPros, and to me they sound better without the stock ear cushions, and would like to purchase some closed ear cushions for them, preferably leather. Do you have any recommendations for closed ear cushions that would fit my PortaPros? Cheers.

Cheers, as shown in the first link, i was looking for something like the Koss SST/5 shown in the image, or even bigger pads, i was wondering if such a thing exists as Koss SST/5 pads are impossible to find now.

eBay is your friend...

I wound up on this thread after an office worker sucked up my headphones with their vacuum, destroying the foam my PortaPro anniversary editions shipped with.

I'm excited to try out these replacement cushions since the original foam wasn't thick enough to be comfortable on my ears. The hard plastic would start digging into my lobes at spots so I'd have to keep shifting the PortaPros around through out the day.

How did you end up liking them? I have a pair of Porta pros on their way and am looking for some nice pads for them and saw those on ebay as well.

  1. Rush1184, turned out I didn't like them very much. Didn't test extensively but my impression was over powering bass to the point where it sounded distorted and boxy. Got some regular replacement pads in the same order and wound up using those.

I thought maybe this post could use a bump
wink.gif
... I just tried a pair of the donut pad from the Bay and I think they make the porta pros even more fun to listen too... I mean the bass is even more punchy and trebles brighter
happy_face1.gif
... down side is mids can get a little washed but I notice the mids were a little washed with the foamies

that I severely dislike... these are not my goto phone at home but like them for when out and about or when want to have some fun with what I'm listening to

also giving this thread an unnecessarily huge bump... there are some replacement pads i spotted on ebay that seem to be thicker since the original pads.
mine were sold as 2Pcs Foam Earpad Cushions Pads for Sennheiser PX100 / Koss Porta Pro Headphones
they can be spotted by the "ridge" along the outer edge of the pads.
they are thicker than stock pads and give your ears a bit more room from the drivers.

OK. The cushions on my Porta Pro, which I've bought years ago, have disintegrated. In fact, I hardly used the headphones, it just sit in its case for years. a few questions have come to my mind:

- In the in-ear headphones world, the earpiece matters for the sound. I'm not sure how does it translate to on-ear headphones.

- I'm not sure if Koss has improved the quality of its cushions in recent years. A self-disintegrating ear cushion is certainly not a pleasant experience. I wonder if other brands are better, if Koss hasn't improved them since.

- I liked the original sound, so I probably don't want  a 'mod,' but on the other hand, the Porta Pro is not a comfortable pair of headphones by default

I don't think they manufacture earpads as you describe them, there are however some mods that may satisfy your needs:

The photos in the first post are gone. so, I have no idea what was it about.

you can get px100 pads off headphones direct for £3.53, the company is based in surrey somewhere

I'm in Europe, too. This would be a good price, but this shop since has closed. What's the bottom line? Is there any?

Mine were 50mm leatherette/pleather from eBay about $4 shipped from China similar to px100 pads. I have had good luck with vendors at 99%+ satisfaction score.

Fine, but I like the foam  variant. Even if it is less durable. What are my options sources for original (or better than original for quality, sound quality per price - does the foam affect sound quality? I don't know, but a good question), that ships to Europe?
