So, half a year ago I inquired with BLOX about ordering a pair of TM5 from them. They said,

Code:
We hope we will have TM5 back in stock soon. I will inform you,Once we have them in our stock.

Time passed, until today. I opened my mailbox, finding a new message from BLOX-sales inside.

Code:
Dear XYZ, We are sorry to reply you very late. TM5 will not be available again. We are going to launch our new earbuds soon.

Did I mention that, to "compensate for the wait", I was offered a pair of those upcoming buds for free?

Expect an indepth review once I get them, facing off again AKG K-319 and Sennheiser MX-880 on a Matrix mini-i and various other sources.
For large scale testing, I'll take my M50 and the buds and head over to my local specialist high-end Grado retailer to really spice things up.
Finally, going against real boxes, Quadral Rondo-C and Dynaudio Focus-140 on a "whatever amp I'll have at the time, heavy flux" are there to rule the final verdict.
Only thing missing is the MX-980 but I really don't want to shell out for anything in that direction right now, my box-amp-quest eats heavily into my budget.

Looking forward to it

I got the same reply from 2 e-mails I had sent in asking if i could buy a pair, but was asked for my mailing address and was told I would receive a free pair of the new headphones.  Interesting.....

Ha, i already got the new buds, it is a lower end model, pretty good soundstage/seperation/dynamics, more highs and less bass than tm5, not as lush sounding as tm5 of course.

WHAT!?

Can you give us any of your thoughts on how they sound?  How do they compare to the previous version of TM5s?  What are the specs...are they still really easy to drive?

I too received a pair probably sending them out to existing TM5 owners.  No note or anything in the packet just the buds.

I think it's great that they are giving them to the previous owners and people who have been waiting for months....but it sure seems strange that a company would give them away.  Gotta wonder just how little it cost them to make these???

As I said they didn't ship with any note or spec sheet so I have no idea what impedance they have.  From an iPod and an iPhone they seem pretty easy to drive.

First thing that struck me was the soundstage which is huge. The sound seems very detailed with sparkly highs and lows that are laid back but present. I am enjoying them but could be the free gift is clouding my judgement.

Yes it is very strange,  I didn't request them they just arrived in the post hopefully they won't want them back. Maybe the company just wants to create some buzz for their new model which seems to be working.

Thank you for the feedback, eaino & kanonathena.
I've also received my share today and asked the Blox what its name is.
It's F2C, they said.
Cause I haven't even bought TM5 (coudn't, in fact), this present is so much moving. :)

I'm comparing this with pk1.

Its soundstage doesn't feel less spacious than pk1.
But the image shaped in mind is different. While pk is more like composed ▲, this bud reminds me of dynamic ▽.
Not as smooth as pk1, but better mid-high slam, so fun to hear.

They've just changed the name into M2C, not F2C.

They will be detailed around the price point of pk3. They said they want to keep it as cheap as possible. kostalex said it is probably on par with ok2. My feeling is that they have a smaller and less 3d stage than ok2, a closer presentation, instrument separation is a little less separated.  Everything else is pretty comparable. But if only at 40$ it is great value I guess. Another thing, it may be sibilant on low powered source like nano.

tm5 is much better in every way. But BLOX has run out of parts used to produce tm5.

I also got a pair for free after inquiring about TM5. Probably this is some kind of marketing strategy....  I'll post some impressions later, comparing it the pk1.

The cables seem to hang loose inside the earbud and there is some rattling when the cable is moved. Anybody else has this problem? Works fine, but slightly annoying unless you sit still..
