These are really special cans imo, I haven't really listened to my Ed5 much since I got these, not that they aren't good but between these gem mint T5.2's and MySphere 3.2 haven't had time, good problem to have I guess..but really impressed with how these scale, really nice detail and holographic sounding with pin point imaging.

These have really grown on me and much prefer them to Amiron home I use to own and also the T1.3 I had. And to own a museum quality version with an extra set of new OEM pads these should last a lifetime. I'd put these as the second best closed back I've heard after Ed5 and I put Ed 5 in the same league as Susvara, MySphere, Ca1a etc. imo of course

After much comparison between these and my Ed 5 I have concluded that these scale to greater heights and can become within reach of the best of the best w/ totl equipment and are better than Ed 5 imo.

These were sounding even better than my Composer tonight on the headphone out of my Young Mkiv, absolutely breathtaking actually.

I bought mine used and the pads were not in good shape. Which pads do you all recommend for drum and bass and for vocals? And if you have a photo for reference. Thanks.

stock pads or Dekoni sheep leather pads work best for me. Recently swapped back to the stock pads and it is something I had to get used to (smaller opening for the ears), but now I do like them a lot.
Swap the sheep leather pads for the choice leather pads. Stop the time.

Even with headphones like the Meze Elite and DCA E3 I tend to use the T5p gen2 a lot. Recently spent time to determine what pad I like most and it's the choice leather pads. Compared to sheepskin pads they are a bit more neutral and even throughout the FR spectrum. The T5p gen2 is still such an enjoyable headphone!

I like the Dekoni pads a lot and have them on both my T5P Mk.2 phones and my Sony WH-1000-XM4 ANR/Bluetooth phones. However on both sets I have had failed locking tabs, so have had to use small dabs of hot glue to hold the pads in place. Since this has happened on both sets, I am guessing it is a structural weakness on the Dekoni pads.

Aren’t the Beyerdynamic pads simply attached to a rim via a tight fitting edge of the leather/ leatherette slowly worked onto the rim?

Sorry my mistake. It should have read my Sony WH-1000 XM4 and older AKG phones where the Dekoni pads have broken attachment clips. As you say the Dekoni pads on my T5P-2 phones lock into a groove, with an elasticated edge. Given how little use the AKG phones have had, as I replaced them with the Sony Bluetooth ones, a failure of these clips after just a few uses, indicates to me, a design problem.
