New Beyerdynamic T5p 2nd generation

I finally heard back from Beyer regarding the price of replacing the headband, yokes, and sliders. For anyone who's curious i've listed the parts numbers and prices below.

T5P 2nd Gen; parts no. 916668 - T5P 2nd Gen Headband (Complete) includes Yokes, Sliders, Pad $244

T1/T5P 1st Gen; parts no 916137 - T1/T5P 1st Gen Headband w/ Pad & Sliders - $82
T5P Yoke; parts no 907243 - T5P Yoke - $22 each
*1st Gen T5P headband replacement doesn't come with Yokes which is why there is a separate listing for the individual Yokes*

Parts have to be ordered through a parts order form that you can get from Beyerdynamic. I also uploaded a copy to my discord which you can download from here (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...2/664903120383639581/PARTS_ORDER_FORM_PDF.pdf) Once its filled out send the order form to (order@beyerdynamic-usa.com)

Thats really helpful, thank you for sharing.
Is this just the part prices or does it include sending the headphone to them and they will replace it?

Why is the gen.2 headband so much more expensive?
If you add the headband and yokes for the gen.1 it's still half the price, am I missing something?

No idea, that's what they sent me in the email. Makes even less sense because the 1st gen uses genuine leather while the 2nd gen use a synthetic leatherette. It might have to do with you having to assemble the separate yokes onto the headband for the gen 1's while the 2nd gen is completely assembled from factory

Its the other way around in Germany and I don't understand why the headband is this expensive. It's 65 EUR on the German Beyer site for the 2nd gen. I was able to install a second generation headband on a 1st Generation T1 a couple of years ago. You could use a shipping service like this: https://mygermany.com/country-guide/shop-in-germany-ship-to-usa/

The t5p gen.2 is a good pair. If you can get it for a good price (< €500) it's an excellent choice.
Doesn't feel as closed back as some other closed back do as they have a wide soundstage and spot on imaging.
Nice. For such expensive I'd buy it in my country because of fees. The cheapest is €779. Any idea which earpads covers are best to protect it from sweating? I have them but they are way too tight.

I got a pair from amazon.co.uk for 675 EUR. I really like them. They are more of an allrounder then the T1.2 with their kind of extreme tuning. Can you recommend a good, small USB-C dongle for use with an Anrdoid phone and PC? I am leaning towards the Impacto Essential (99 EUR as b-stock in Germany).

I have the Impacto universal which I bought with my supposedly ex-demo (but actually sealed and brand new) T5P-2 phones but at the previous price of €299. The plus is that the sound quality for such a small device is good. The volume is only just adequate but I am slightly deaf, which is why for static applications I bought an ex-demo Chord Hugo 2, which is superb but then given its price, it damn well should be. The main downside of the Impacto are as follows: 1) I am not sureif this applies to Android but it cannot be powered via USB on iOS/Apple devices and you need to use the small custom lithium battery, magnetically attached to the Impacto. These only last around 5 to 6 hours and buying an additional battery like I did, is expensive at around €85 including P&P from Beyerdynamic in Germany. 2) The leads from the Impacto to the phones are absurdly short so that the Impacto is always sitting on your chest. I got Custom Cans to make me a set of twisted pair silk covered extension cables, which means I can now have the Impacto sitting beside me.

Does anyone know of a padded bag suitable to carry the T5-P phones in. My usual air-travel headphones, a pair of AKG495NC have a broken hinge, as is extremely common on these phones and there are no original spare parts left available to repair them. I am having parts 3D printed in ABS to repair the hinges, made for me but I doubt these will be ready before I fly off to South Africa in three weeks time. I am therefore going to take my T5P-2 phones with me but the zip up hard carry case is too bulky and as the phones will either be on my head or in my rigid Samsonite Cabin luggage, a hard protection case is not really needed. It would be nice to have a bag to keep phones in when not in use, the extra battery for my Impacto DAP and the various cables: DAP leads, DAP lead extension, passive cable and Impacto battery charging cable. Suggestions welcomed.

Another downside of the Impacto: it has no support for devices with 3.5mm. That one really bugs me why Beyerdynamic doesn't add support for 3.5mm which is a damn shame as it can support for headphones up to 600ohm.

Thank you for your review. I am an Android guy so I don't know if the volume is an iphone related issue. The data sheet says "50mw" @32Ohms so we are talking about 152db with the T5p which should be more then enough juice.

You could quite easily get a cable maker to make you an adapter from the dual output plugs of the Impacto (tip and ring for signal on both L&R male 3.5mm plugs) to a 3.5mm stereo female socket. Custom Cans in the UK would do this and I am sure there are equally competent cable makers in other countries. I agree that Beyerdynamic should offer an adapter.

I'm using a super simple ugreen dongle I bought at amazon and it can power the T5p gen.2 without problems.
