New Beyerdynamic T1 (2nd Generation)

Though this is not a new thread.......I thought I'd add my comment, hoping the Beyerdynamic rep is still watching <G>

First, I have been testing different headphones for the past two years.  I own cans ranging in price from $150 to $2500.   I've been looking for great cans, easy to wear, clean accurate sound, suitable to wear on an airplane as well as at home.  I thought I pretty much had my product with the Senheiser HD 800 S cans.........my only complaint was they were large (although quite comfortable) and they let too much sound out -- not well suited for wearing on a plane.   I recently tried a set of Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pros and really liked them.  That prompted me to try a set of t5p Gen 2.  They were REALLY good........so I bit the bullet and bought a set of T1 Gen 2.   I am now in headphone heaven!!   They are comfortable, and the sound profile is excellent.  Balanced for many kinds of music, slightly warm, good defined base....just about perfect.  Even though they are defined as open-back, they are very quiet and can be used on a plane.  It's really hard to get cans that play many kinds of music well, but these can do it, from Jazz to vocals to rock, to country, to classical........you name it!!

CONGRATULATIONS BEYERDYNAMICS - I love these cans.

Now, my problem is that I do NOT want to use the stock cable, it's way to long for use on a plane.  I want a 3-4 foot long cable that doesn't cost as much as the cans <G>  Anyone have recommendations?

Regards,

Bob

Thanks........just found that on the site.  $105 plus $15 shipping.

For those living in Europe here's a cheaper option:

Could anyone please suggest a place where I can undertand the eletronics behind the tesla driver of the T1, I do not undertand why each driver is connected to a 3 pin socket, surely each driver just need a two pin socker, + and -, nevertheless the T1.2 have a 3 pin socket....

Also do you know where one could find a third party cable in Europe?

Thanks

Tesla is just Beyerdynamic's marketing term and is named in reference to the strength of the magnets used in the drivers, which have a magnetic flux of 1.2 tesla. There's a bit of description here:

For some reason they use three pole connectors, but they only actually use two.

What kind of cable are you looking for - Better or different length, or both? Most people seem the think the standard cables are of pretty good quality, and if you are looking for a shorter version they can be had from Beyerdynamic directly or from Thormann as discussed a couple of posts above.

I wondered about the connection as well.  Could it be an extra ground..........or just that they don't use the third connection?   It does make it harder to get aftermarket cables, most are two pole.

Just a side note........I continue to use these cans often in my office.  I am even more pleased with them.........and considering the price I bought them at, they are a really good return on investment.   I bought a second pair for our summer home.  I'll use the 5Tp headphones on the road (traveling) as they can be run just on my computer, and sound even better if I use my Chord Mojo.  They also allow less sound to escape than the T1s.   I can also run them on my Onkyo DP-X1 -- they sound fantastic.   I'll sell the DT 1770 Pro Cans.
