New Audio Technica Limited Edition Woodies: ATH-ESW9LTD!!

Good to know, I will give you a heads up if I'm going to put one up.

Buy the way, which gets more head time your W3000anv or the TH900? I was going for the TH900 but had a chance to get the W3000anv for a good price before they were gone and love them, I did like the 900 when i heard them though.

That a very tough question as they are very different in sound signature. The W3000ANV is musically coloured with the most lush mids Audio Technica is known for. TH900 is more leaning to neutral but the mid are recessed with better imaging and wide sound stage. The TH-900 exhibit some sparkles in the highs which might be a no no with people who have sensitive hearing/sibilance. Between the two I can't really pick a favourite. I would say they compliment each other for closed can. Which is why I got both.

While I cant remember which (9LTD or 10jpn) had more detailing, they both were easily superior to the old esw9 and also the better metal es700 & es10.

I prefered the 9LTD over the 10jpn only because of more bass & more relaxed open soundstage.

The 10jpn really excelled in the mids with a neutal solidity and mid bass slam, but the 9LTD had more low end extension and not mid-centric like the 10jpn was, just a bit so.

The 9LTD could be considered also having a sweeter signature,
while the 10jpn was having a more neutral woody signature.

So it would be no loss if you had either.
Both had the alure to keep you listening to them and not want to take them off..
:)

As much as keep thinking to settle on one headphone (ed8),
It is simply not possible,
As I cannot let go these LTD no matter how I try.
It has such a liquid smooth detailed sound..
:p

Well looks change of plans for me.
Although quality is of imaportance,
I need an open can solution for my requirements so I will be letting my LTD go here:

I probably will eventually get one again .

After several weeks of usage, I have to recommend the pairing of the ESW9LTD with the iBasso DX80.  The DX80 is somewhat "punchier" than the average DAP and it complements very nicely...giving the ESW9LTD a small dose of dynamics and energy...a nice offset to the ESW9LTD's smooth/polite character.  The only down side (for me) is the ESW9LTD's seem to become slightly fatiguing over time with the additional treble energy, but I know others prefer that more than I do.

I see this benefit to a better/greater degree with the ESW9LTD's sibling as well, the ESW9.

Quite interested in these. Would these have better detail and sound stage than a custom iem like the um mage? Cant decide between them two...

Not sure about detail...but sound stage, yes, they have more than any universal or custom IEM I have heard.

The looks are indeed killer.  Ever hear the ESW9?  They sound like a more refined version of those.
Nope, but it was always one of the ones that i've always been interesred in but i heard they didnt sound really good and i always seem to buy iem's in the end rather than headphones because its more portable, comfortable and hs good isolation.

Nabbed a pair of these off of eBay and absolutely love them! They clearly don't have the finesse of my HE 560s but there is something magical about the decay and overall signature that i can't quite put my finger on. Despite having a TH X00 on the way I REALLY want to buy an Audio Technica full sized woody. Specifically the w1000x or the w5000.

Has anyone got any impressions on the w10000x or the w5000 and how they might compare as a full sized home use version of the esw9LTD?
