@PLGA Have you tried selecting another input for one second and then switching back to optical? How long is your Toslink cable? Is the TV set to incompatible mode like multichannel surround?

I never use optical but think I had a similar switching issue with I2S and the older PLL firmware.

…glad you solved the issue…
Hi Scott
I only use optical once in a while, when I watch a movie and I want to hear it better than with the TV speakers as I don't have and don't care on having a home cinema, I only care about SQ in music.

I got a new TV and the problem was that optical output from it was set as surround or some cinema format as default and the DAC could not process it. I solved it changing the settings to PCM 2.0 on the TV output.

Thanks!

Recently a friend in this forum bought the LHY clock and the feedback was pretty good, thus I also bought this clock and got it 10 days ago.
another friend of mine has an atomic clock, when he heard I bought the LHY clock, he lent me his atomic clock to let me compare them.

The atomic clock he has is this one https://sparkhifi.com/products/digi...ubidium-atomic-clock-turntable-external-clock
This atomic clock has master clock and word clock output, so seems it could be useful for people who have equipments use word clock. For example Soundaware D300Ref has word clock.

My LHY clock has about 140+ hours burn-in, I keep it on 24 hours a day. I am not going to say anything at this moment, it is unfair for LHY clock since it is still under going the burn-in process. I am going to leave my LHY clock on for another couple weeks on and then compare them again and report back.

I drop in just to mention i have ordered the LHY sw-8 on ali. I currently have a lynksys LGS-105 fed by a good linear power supply (and good dc cable from Ghent) , which in itself provided a great upgrade over the walwart.

I am curious about how big the upgrade will be, if. any. When streaming, i suppose is will be significant. The LGS-105 will still be used, as intemediate node to the modem, which is assumed to be noisy.

At this stage in my search for perfect sound, i am looking for the biggest remaining bottlneck. Could be the switch, we'll see. Good sound is 80% about making noise as low as possible. The result is worth the efforts, i can state now. Someone who comes hear my system would be hard pressed to detect it's coming from files played on a mini computer. Just 10 years ago, i could not best a cd player. There has been a small revolution in digital audio, to say the least.

Staging could still improve, i think. We'll see. Staging depth is all about a very delicate level of detail that really requires very clean power to be retrieved. This optimization journey is as important to the final result as the gears themselves.

I have been busy with this build I tried convince myself that my Afterdark Constellation Giesemann X1 was enough(a tiny switch/bridge) but I have two systems so I need a stable ethernet connection....LHY SW-8 is indeed the next buy!

As best practice keep it close enough to your source around 25-50cm/0.5m with a good ethernet/Cat7 cable(maybe, just maybe a network isolator also). I will have it connected between my NAS and the source.

The stramer build made possible with Jriver MC. This is more interesting for those who wants a gamer and a streamer(audiophile) pc as an AIO.

1. Universal Audio UAD-2 Solo.

This DSP card has overwhelmed me so far. It does not feel like Im using anything that alters the sound at all. Thanks to the good old clean OXFORD EQ - many plugins are available indeed!

tuned accordingly to Susvara.

This is truly amazing for me. You could call it the honeymoon experience, but I really know my EQ experience is better than the built in ones on every mediaplayer:ROON,Audiovana,Foobar,Jriver,MusicBee etc...

It does not matter if I have one or more headphones. Tuning the last "%s" is crucial after my findings here!

(2. JCAT USB XE is a USB pcie card where the DI20HE is connected)

3. Afterdark Constellation Giesemann X1 Ethernet adapter. The green tape is to isolate continuity of the threading of the Afterdark CG X1 Card.

Both the Afterdark and JCAT card is powered by LHY LPSU80VA - dual 5V/7A

So far this LHY LPSU feels more upfront and warmer than my iFi Elite 5V/5A which is more clean and colder sounding, neutral. I like both, but so far the LHY is a keeper because I eliminate one power cable...and I like the upfront forced feeling so far, well its not burned-in yet, if it even gets better, indeed Im more satisfied.

4. RTX4070 GPU is installed: I have not tested the sound quality with and without the gpu, it wass hard to find a MB with 3 pcie slots in the bottom without blocking the GPU. If I did not intended for a gamer I would have choosed the MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK.

This build is probably not close to Pink Faun or a Taiko, but the Corsair AX1600i does a really good job imo.

also NO works better for me in this configuration

Did you build it yourself?

Beautiful case. :ok_hand:

And fits nearly perfect to the whole rig.
Yeah he showed me a pic of that case and I thought wow, it looks like Audio-gd made it :)

I think this built is becoming my own masterpiece....The DSP card has, is still overwhelming me. The liquidy sound is added to Susvara, the music is like "water" - Like the veil is still there but with a totally clear liquidy image! - Glad I bought 2 of these cards!

Thanks! :-) its not built overnight though, took me 2 years of impulse/wrong buys and thoughts to come where it is now. My main plan in headfi was to built a streamer that does it all. I think this is the V1. Most of the credit goes to the Corsair AX1600i and LHY LPSU80VA which powers the JCAT USB XE and AFTERDARK X1.

All the fans are spinning so quietly low. Its just a breeze of an experience now. Im loving this.
