You are correct, these things are usually escalate fast so in a few months it might be 3500 euros but I had to pull the trigger with the R-27 2021; it was on sale:sweat_smile:

So I got the transparent audio hdmi cable and tested it out and dsd still wasn't working.

So I decided to give a hail mary and uninstall all the amanero drivers and reinstall (should have done this first 🤦‍♂️ . Then when I opened up jriver to select the audio output, a new option popped up that was not available to me before. The combo384 asio 1.03 driver.

I was previously trying to use the wasapi driver and it wasn't working.

After selecting the asio output, it works fine now at DSD512. Sounds amazing.

So afterall it is a configuration issue and the AVPLAY cable is fine from di20he > r8mk2.

Edit : it may help if you reinstall the drivers with the i2s cable connected for about 30 seconds first, the driver may not install correctly if the output device is not recognized as present by windows.
This is a native ASIO driver to the board?
-official site

So it needs the drivers to go over 96Khz/24bit?

Awesome you solved the issue👍👍👍

I have used a standard HDMI cable to connect my DI20 to the R7. Music did come out of my loudspeakers, but it was extremely distorted.

This was the case with definitions 1, 2, 3 and 4 for the HDMI output on the DI20: none of them worked.

I am using Roon / HQ Player / Qobuz to stream music, and I am playing PCM not DSD. I have Amenero 1.067 on my Windows music laptop, and I'm using the Combo384 ASIO driver.

Any ideas why it doesn't work? Should I uninstall and then reinstall Amanero 1.067?

Its the combo driver listed on the audio-gd site.

http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/dac/Amanero/AmaneroEN.htm

Correction : Yeah it needs to use asio for dsd. Anything over 24/192, it can use wasapi or asio. Since I was using coax before when I installed the drivers, it seems that it did not install the asio drivers because there was no i2s connection available at the time.

Once I uninstalled the drivers then reinstalled with the i2s cable plugged in, windows recognized a device present that matched that driver and installed the asio.

Please try the same as @dougms3

But before installing any driver see if windows recoignize it amd try to play audio/PCM. Just to see if the audio is normal.

Install the needed drivers

The di20 and r7 both have a sample rate limit of 384khz, if you try to play above this, it will become distorted.

What is the sample rate set to in windows?

Yeah, I suspect something unrelated to hardware is causing this. There is no need to change settings for a DI-20(HE) driving an R7...

Any users with LHY OCK-1 here saying that the sound is better than no Master Clock?
-Like obvious difference?

I think Im going for OCK-1 instead of OCK-2. But all I see is output on all three BNC ports. 2 sine and 1 square.

I need help for this setup:
DAC: R8HE mk2(75OHM)
DDC: DI20HE (75Ohm) it has a clock and 10mhz bnc connector
MCLK: LHY OCK-1. Will I be able to run square?
How many bnc 75ohm cables do I need?

The sound of the DI-20HE is improved with the OCK-1 input. Should also be the case of the R8HE.
The BNC input of the DI-20 is of 50 ohm not 75 ohm.
The square wave output of my OCK-1 works.
You can order a customized model from Beatechenik with a mix of outputs.

I ordered 75Ohm connectors on both ddc and dac

So far so good. But will I only need 2 bnc 75 cables in total for the clock setup?

I did not know they made different configuration than impedance, thanks :)
