The ByBees are magical, they improve anything and everything you put them in. I've been thinking about putting ByBees in my future R7HE, I have a few lying around from previous projects. Did you just solder two per channel on ACSS? I'm thinking to instead make a pair of cables for it so if I stuff it up I won't damage the DAC.
Hi Jackula,
I sent you a PM.

@gk2013 Everyone's ears are probably better than mine! I tried both smooth and original (accurate). I prefer accurate version as I get an extra kick on the low side that helps my system plus the sparkle adds presence..

I also like the old V2 and V3 accurate version but took a long time to warm up to them with the old hardware. A lot of fiddling around and cable swaps to get it to sound decent. The new hardware has much less grain so the top end shines right through and sounds very natural.

But smooth may be better for some systems. Just a matter of taste and preference.
Thanks, I'll give accurate a try as well later on, but based on earlier tests I probably will stay with smooth since it fits better in my setup.

R8 FW update attempt: upload_2019-10-12_14-30-46.png upload_2019-10-12_14-39-7.png upload_2019-10-12_14-40-50.png
Couldn't get the FW update to work - this was my first attempt with updates. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it. Sorry if the attachments are layed out out of sequence or my post is confusing.
From Update Guide -
1) Downloaded the Quartus 12.1 Web Edition
2) Connected the USB update port of the (R8), but Windows did not request the driver install
Driver: C \ altera \ 12.1 \ quartus \ drivers
Should there have been an automatic Windows prompt on my laptop to fetch the driver?
My USB connection to the R8HE is not recognized by the laptop.
I inserted a thumb drive into the Windows 10 laptop USB port and the laptop recognized the thumb drive.
Perhaps because of this I also cannot "Perform automatic web license retrieval " after opening Quartus.

I opened the C \ altera \ 12.1 \ quartus \ drivers to see if there was an exe or install and I get this [see below]-

If I open Quartus and try to Add Hardware I do not get USB Blaster Option [perhaps because it is not recognizing the R8HE Upgrade Port connected to my Laptop USB?]
It only shows Ethernet Blaster as an option....

@AudioBang I would try a different USB port on the PC if possible. On my desktop PC I have to use USB ports on the back of the PC (not front). Your PC did not detect the Blaster USB it seems or it would show up in Hardware Manager with a "?" until the driver is loaded.

Everybody's PC is different so try a different USB port. If it does not show up in Hw Mgr you can't load the driver.

Happy Saturday people. Could one of you helpful folk please remind me again of the correct dip switch arrangement for the SU-6 for Audio-gd / PS Audio I2S? I'm going to be soldering in my new Accusilicon clocks momentarily, and want to ensure my Singxer is set correctly when I put my R-28 back into place. I only have switch '9' turned to ON (which corrected the L and R channels being reversed), but I recall reading previously that a second switch was meant to be turned on as well.

Thanks!

The DSD is now sounding quite gorgeous on magnafied R7, burning in almost 24/7 for past 2 wks. The CD transport also very nice, at times excellent, it works well with NOS and OS X 0. Yah, not a big fan of OS x8. I would try this older TDA FW for few more days before upgrading to parallel to see if I can tell a difference.

!! R8/ R8-HE/ R27 Asynchronous Parallel Processing Firmware !!

Kingwa asked me to notify R8/R27 users that new firmware is available. This firmware intended for R8 hardware that is modified for the asynchronous firmware (asy3) - I2S BCK/ CLK wire swap. Factory units have been shipping this firmware since Aug. 2019. Let us know what you think!

Find the firmware here (R8tda_Asy_P.jic): https://onedrive.live.com/?id=636DC4E8060D66A1!419&cid=636DC4E8060D66A1

I updated to this firmware and now I have no sound from the USB and I2S inputs. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

@anroj My U16 this morning is up to its old startup trick of outputting noise (I2S) until I start and restart tracks several times. It has to be tracks of different sampling rates to get it going. Then it works OK. Happened yesterday also when connected to the PC but now reconnected to Aurender. I hate the U16 but sounds good when working!

Looking forward to Kingwa's DI DDC!
